Does anybody else feel that in a year or 2, Corey White will take Greer's job from him. I like Greer, but he's just getting older. Corey is bigger (6'1" vs 5'10"), a little faster, and more physical. His tackling seems to be getting better each week and his coverage skills aren't terrible but are improving. Plus he's got the confidence that Rob Ryan and Sean Payton like to see. Thoughts?

I think that Jabari may be gone as soon as next season.....shame too because I love the guy. But like you said.....he is getting older.

I really really like White; he has the tools to be a really good man to man corner. I like the physicality of his play; he plays thicker than he is.....not afraid to drop his pads and deliver a hit. BUT don't get too excited yet, because he is a very young player. He will have many mare mistakes that will madden us for sure; just part of getting experience. The future does look bright for him to be AT LEAST a solid nickle corner.
Hopefully he gets the play recognition part of his game down quicker than Prob did though. Prob also has very good skills, but always struggled with play recognition. Shitty part is that Prob looked as though he was putting it together when he blew out his ACL.

I wouldn't mind having Greer in the slot. He's still pretty quick and still has great coverage skills for what he is. But having 2 taller corners on the outside is something that we haven't had in a very long time, and that's something you need in a division with Julio, Roddy, VJax, etc. I do still remember the first game of the year when White got burned by Julio in the red zone for a TD, but like you said, White is still young and was against a good receiver in Julio, so I wasn't too worried.

It was very frustrating when it occurred, and I can't say that I didn't scream and curse.......but in then end I did chalk it up to inexperience.

Well, Lewis will take Greer's job from him; and White might take his.

White played a lot of safety in college as well as corner. We all know Versatile defensive backs thrive in Ryan's defense i.e. Vaccaro and Jenkins.

In other words, Corey White has found a permanent home in Nola whether he can move into a starting corner job or not.

It seems that Lewis is our #1 corner for now.
Greer has been great for this org. and fans. But for whatever reasons he does not seem his usual self this year and his salary for next is unusually high.
Until White is on a island for several games as a #1 or #2 corner I will hold an otherwise awesome pontification on his play.

How many years does Greer have under contract? I've been thinking he will at least be here through next season, though at maybe a diminished role. I still feel he has played solid this year. At least he has been there to contest most passes his way unlike cbs of the past we have had.

Has anyone realized that Greer has been struggling because the side of the field he's on. Most corners have a strong side and a weak side and this year they put him opposite of what he has played for us since we got him from the Bills. They probably put him over there cause Lewis is better but I've never seen him struggle this much on the other side

I must be watching different games than you. Greer is by far our best cb. Even when his guy catches a pass, he is usually right on the guy.

Lewis had great coverage on one play last game, but isn't close to the cover guy Greer is. Lewis consistently gives up yards to wide open guys.

Getting easy int's on balls thrown up for grabs while in zone coverage late in games when the other team is in obvious throwing situations doesn't make someone a good cb.

So I'm just going to assume some people just look at interception numbers to judge what cb's are good, because no way has Lewis been better than Greer.

I challenge anyone who thinks this to go back through any game this year and see who is running over to make a tackle on a wr that was open. A large majority of the time it's Lewis.

QB's have a 39.9 Passer Rating when throwing at Lewis, which puts him at 3rd in the NFL. Greer has a 95.3 Passer Rating against him

Lewis has allowed 1 touchdown this season, Greer has allowed 2.

Lewis has 3 interceptions and 3 passes defended. Greer has 1 interception and 1 pass defended

Lewis has had 50% of the passes thrown his way completed. Greer has 60%

Greer is allowing 14.8 YPC and has given up 96 YAC. Lewis is allowing 10.4 YPC and has given up 39 YAC.

Greer has given up 355 yards to receivers, Lewis has given up 187.

The most yards after a catch he's given up in an entire game is 9. That is a total number, not just 1 play

The most yards given up by Lewis in a game this season is 44. Greer has 1 game this season when he's given up less yards

I agree with you on Greer being a good cb, also underrated. I still believe Lewis is playing better. We have a great tandem at cb. Greer is prob my fav player on the Saints fwiw.

I legit like Corey White's game. Even last year he started to come around after a shaky start. He's a handful for most receivers, really physical. Love him in the slot, he blitzes well.

You need to take a step back and realize that your eyeball test is not the last word on things.

Stats can be interpreted, but you're way off base if you think Greer is playing anywhere near as well as Lewis.
