Ian Rapoport?Verified account @RapSheet 46s46 seconds ago More The belief is that the #Saints will be able to trade away WR Brandin Cooks by this afternoon. #Patriots, #Titans remain in the mix.

This entire morning has felt like someone has been pinching the hose, and as of the last hour, finally released it.

Rapoport is #FakeNews but this is happening. either deal is ok but I think I prefer the Titans deal by a hair.

It is funny how quickly fans turn into haters as soon as a player is announced to be traded. This reaction is routine here

Give me Zeitler, trade Cooks for the 18th pick, resign Fairley. Would be an epic start to this offseason.

No matter what happens, this offseason was Epic enough with getting rid of all the old coaches

The Cooks trade makes sense. The Saints don't need him for success. Our offense is stacked and he's a tremendously valuable asset to move for areas of need elsewhere. The fact that he's been a source of conflict only makes the move that much more sensible but make no mistake, moving a WR to bolster positions of REAL need is in the best interest of making this TEAM better.
I love Cooks' game, but he's not the piece we need to get over the hump. He's a luxury.

Except Allen.
I might get yelled at here but I'm not convinced he's really a problem.

You're obviously not who I was referring to then. This is a reasonable assessment. I'm referencing those who bash players they once trumpeted (in this case Cooks) at the announcement of a trade. There were already two in this thread alone posting and a "bye felicia" meme celebrating his being jettisoned.
As I stated, it's quite funny.

I like Cooks's game. I just think this trade has potential to help this team tremendously.
That's why I nana'ed. Nothing against cooks but he's a luxury on a team that has gaping holes that need to be filled (TWSS)

Fair enough. While I am not convinced we are set at WR without him (Ginn has always been an underachiever), I understand this assessment. Cooks is a great player at a cheap price to retain (plus we gave a lot to get him originally), so I think we better get a lot for him in a trade. I'd rather see him stay here, but I'm ok with losing him if we receive something big in return (18th pick is not big enough).
