Considering the Saints, this was a hell of a draft.

There's really only one hole you can poke in the entire draft and that's probably the Florida LB due to major injury concerns.

1) Lattimore - best CB
2) Ramdude - best T
3) Williams - one of best center field safeties
4) Kamara - one of best satellite backs
5) Anzalone - good measurable
6) Hendrickson - finally got a pass rusher with some of the best productivity in college last year

There's a couple things I don't get people bitching about.
1) "We don't need another safety." We had the worst pass defense in the league last year and we haven't had a good CF safety since Sharper. This allows Vaccaro and Bell to work closer to the LOS, particularly allow Vaccaro to cover TE's, backs like Engram and Howard that just got drafted. We've been very successful with 3 safety sets and it gets a LB off the field.
2) "Why the hell did we draft another RB." How about because we don't have great pass catchers and our best offenses have always had one? Everyone agreed this team needed another OW and this was the one that fell/fit. I think there's going to be a renewed commitment to the run, and most of us regulars know that when this team really commits to the run is when we're the most successful.

I think like most the only wish list I had was to get a DE earlier, but, it never quite shook out that way. I think between Cam, Kikaha, Okafor and now Hendrickson along with the known interior guys we should have improved enough. A secondary that's actually now, on paper, competent should help that out greatly.

I think it's really funny that everyone (including other fans) are blown away by our draft saying how excellent it is. The only people complaining are this board.

Bell killed it in run support last season, but he got roasted in coverage a lot. I think we stand to gain a lot by letting him come up and play closer to the LOS in run support. Vacarro is kind of similar, but he is more of just a nickel guy who often covers slot receivers and TEs. I think we can leave these two up there and let Williams play the role that we hoped Byrd could grow into.

We all agreed like 3 days ago that we basically have zero RBs besides Ingram. Then we added Peterson... and he is 32 years old. The draft is about building for the future, I don't think the Peterson addition changed anything about our need at this position. Kamara is really explosive and dynamic, plus a great pass catcher, Payton will find a way to use him.

I'm loving this draft so far. I only have two real gripes:

1) I don't like trading the 2nd to get Kamara. I was more upset at first because I thought they used a 2nd to move up from the 3rd, but instead we just gained a pick. If you think about it, if we had a 2nd round grade on Kamara then it is probably worth it. Plus, if we are good next year then our 2nd will be late in the round and it will basically be a 1:1 swap for what we got.

2) I don't know if I like the Anzalone pick. I have watched a little of him this morning and I like what I see, but given our issues with injured players you'd think they'd be a little more apprehensive.

Isn't that so backwards? It's like the posters on here WANT the Saints to suck and fail at the draft and in the season so that they can have something to complain about and so that they can feel smarter than the Front Office. No matter what, NONE of the posters on here will EVER be hired to help out a dang Junior College with football ops, much less an NFL team! It's all a mindset and seemingly everybody here has the wrong one

if we get something like Derek Wolfe out of Hendrickson, that will be a home run. Relentless effort and motor is what we need

Win now mode bro. We basically turned next year 2 into this year 3 and losing a 7th. Kamara had a 2nd round grade and was a need this year. I don't mind that at all.

If he ends up producing like Sproles as a back and return man for the next four years or more, does it matter that you traded up a year to use the pick?

Well, in the end, it is all about production on the field- this time next year if Kamara produces, then it will take the sting out of giving up the pick and we will think it was worth it...

Not gonna lie. I'm almost expecting anzalone to be the best player in our draft due to all the shitting on him at this point.

losing a 7th

Which is essentially worthless given how many guys we took in early rounds. Can't keep THAT many rookies.

I feel the same as you, but what Loomis said about it made me feel better: since they weren't trading up in THIS draft, it was more like they just got next year's 2nd a year early, especially since they had a very high grade on Kamara.

Kamara showed his skills by posting a 39.5-inch verticle leap and a 10-foot-11-inch broad jump. Both of those marks topped Christian McCaffrey, Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette.

Kamara also ran a 4.56 40-yard dash at 214 pounds. Fournette ran a 4.51 at 240, while Cook clocked in at 4.49 at 210 pounds, and McCaffrey finished with a 4.48 at 202 pounds.

In this offense a great chance to be worth every penny of the price we paid.
