2:39 left with 2 timeouts left. 3rd down. If you save the use of the 2nd timeout, Carolina still gets the 1st down with Benjamin and now its 1st down with basically 2 minutes left. Stop them 3 times and we get the ball back with over a minute to go. Instead, by using the 2nd timeout, we gave up the 1st down and now we are a timeout short and now we get the ball back with only 25 seconds. Don't even get me started about the first timeout we burned with 8:11 remaining. Millions of dollars to coach and this is the kind of clock management we see. Horrible.

If you don't call timeout they run it down to 2 minute warning. 3rd down gets a first down. Timeout with 1:55. First down play timeout at 1:50. Then they get to run two plays with no timeouts and we end up with less time then we ended up with in the real game

It was beneficial to use on the right side of the 2 minute warning

I posted earlier about the 8:00 minute mark. We should have been in hurry up mode since then. Hell, we should have been no huddle the entire 2nd half!!!

I thought so too, but I think the play clock was at 37 with the game clock at 2:39. That means the play would be snapped at 2:02-2:03 and then the 1st down happens with a few seconds gone but the clock would stop with 2 minute warning. That 2 seconds would save us 40 seconds.

The shitty clock management really started when we ran the ball three out of four plays in our own territory with 7 minutes left, down two scores. Three game-minutes later, we were only 25 yards further down the field, near the Panthers 40.

I didn't go back and look but if so, you are right. But that is really splitting hairs when you are talking decision making in real time. Plus he's not planning on letting them get the first down and trying to save as much time for the offense

I agree you don't want them to get the first down, but you have to assume they will just so u can be prepared for that situation. But I agree it's splitting hairs at this point. I just would've liked to see Brees down 3 with a minute left to at least try to get in FG range. Oh well.

Maybe so, but make them use a TO. Didn't have to use ours. They would have had to run a play at 2:03 mark. But calling a TO gave them a chance to make sure all their players were on the same page.

Call 2 quick TO, they run on 3rd down. We may get the ball back with a minute and change

Hadn't even thought of the Panthers aspect of this, but you are definitely correct. If they rush a play, better chance we stop them and save our timeouts. If they use a timeout and get the first down anyways, we still save our timeouts too. A shame really.
