Kelly, though, had his invitation to the NFL’s annual scouting combine rescinded because of off-the-field issues, which brought him under the microscope of the policy on combine invites:

“As in the past, draft-eligible prospects will not be permitted to participate in any aspect of the Combine if a background check reveals a conviction of a felony or misdemeanor involving violence or use of a weapon, domestic violence, sexual offense and/or sexual assault. The NFL also reserves the right to deny participation of any prospect dismissed by their university or the NCAA.”

Kelly was famously involved in a bar fight while at Ole Miss. He pleaded guilty to the non-criminal charge of disorderly conduct, but per Yahoo! Sports , one of Kelly’s agents was led to believe that the organization that runs the combine did more digging around the incident and didn’t like what it found, which led to the dis-invitation.

Well, according to Pro Football Talk, which was reached via email by another of Kelly’s agents, Kelly may show up to the combine to talk to teams anyway.

“We are still considering the possibility of traveling to the combine along with Chad,” agent Duray Oubre said.

I'd take a chance on him later in the draft.

So he did sonething worse at that club than say he was getting the AK to spray the whole place?

Also showing up when you were disinvited is a terrible idea. His agent will say thats how dedicated he is to showing he's changed. The league will say he thinks the rules don't apply to him.

Who cares? frick the league. If he doesnt plan on screwing up again it doesnt matter.

He needs a team. I would take every opportunity I could think of.

This will become the norm for players blackballed from the combine

When I say league I mean team scouts, coaches, GMs, etc. If your attitude is frick the league, good luck playing in the league.

I think Kelly will be very successful in the NFL. I wish the Saints would grab in with a lower pick.

Chad Kelly has all the physical tools to play in the NFL but he is a tool himself. Name me a successful NFL QB who was/is a head case & who also has off the field problems? You can't.

When has Cam Newton threatened coaches & had to be escorted off of team facilities?

When has Cam Newton threatened to shoot up a night club with an AK-47?

When has Cam Newton been involved in an on field fight during his younger brother's game?

And now he is talking about going to the Combine when he isn't invited? Kelly is an idiot. I dislike Cam Newton myself but this comparison is illogical & utterly stupid.

Everybody has to do the same shite.

Furthermore, Cam was charged with felony counts of burglary, larceny and obstructing justice for stealing a fellow student’s laptop in 2010. When police came to his dorm, Cam threw the laptop — which he had painted his name on! — out his window. He was suspended from the team, and held in jail. All charges were dropped when he completed a court-approved program. Despite his troubled behavior, Cam persevered to become the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner and the Number 1 NFL draft pick. Whoa!

But in 2015, he was still getting in trouble. A Green Bay Packers fan sought payment from the Carolina Panthers after Cam tore down and stole his homemade, $500 sign that said “Carolina Cheeseheads” at a Packers-Panthers game. Cam’s explanation: “You’re not going to sell a Whopper at McDonald’s.” A petition in January 2016 even called for Cam to get banned from the Seattle Seahawks stadium for “unsportsmanlike conduct!”

Cam wasn't recovering from an ACL & menicus tear like Kelly is either. It's funny that some seem to forget that bit of information as well.

quote:

Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly has a torn ACL and lateral meniscus in his right knee and will miss the remainder of his senior season, the school announced Sunday.

Kelly exited in the third quarter of Saturday's 37-27 win over Georgia Southern. An MRI conducted Sunday afternoon determined he will need to undergo season-ending surgery this week.
