I would imagine he sees being cut after 2024 like just about everyone here right? He may want to stay.

I mean clearly if he wants to take a substantial pay cut and get rid of guaranteed money, then that's not the type of restructuring that we're talking about. I expect that he sees this as a leverage point to get the whole contract, which is very achievable if we convert a lot of money to bonus this off season

What leverage is he using to get the whole contract from the Saints?

Lattimore and Ram are throwing major kinks in our standard cap plan. Carr has a fat cap number that can get the signing bonus/can kick treatment to alleviate the kinks (for 2024 at least). THAT restructure basically makes cutting him impose for a couple more years.

If he means take a massive pay cut that doesn't handcuff us, then fine. If it locks us into him past next season then GTFO.

Only if it's 100% voidable after next year.

There's such a thing a middle ground... not every player/topic is polarizing. It's ok to admit Carr is neither great, nor terrible.

tell that to Saints Talk. One week he's the demon and the next the savior. This place is a treasure trove of hilarious inconsistency, and I am here for the comedy.

Carr is at league average I believe in most categories, and that's essentially who he is overall this season, just game to game it see-saws a bit too much. Biggest issue is Playcalling. Better playcalling & scheme could improve Carr's performance and running game which in turn would help each other

JMO but this was due to the injuries/ribs and our shite o-line play earlier in the season. I think it’ll level out next year if we can get rid of Maronne

Three huge things hurt DC4 this year:

1) The offensive line started out rough. It didn't appear Penning was the worst link but you certainly can't argue they didn't get better since he was benched.

2) DC4 appeared to take a while to grasp and taker a firmer control of the offense. His attitude and on field demeanor was a problem and not on anybody expected from a veteran like him stepping up in a leadership role.

3) Pete Carmichael seems to be a big problem off and on. The issue with is judging pete is we are not aware of what issue pete sees or knows about which leads to why he thinks he's doing certain things for a good reason or not.

To bad it's not his fantastic play. If he is coming out now for a restructure does he see the writing on the wall and what does that say?

He can restructure it by forfeiting the remaining amount and going to another team.

I don't really like Carr but if the new OC can fix the line issues, he will be a top 10 QB in this league. He has taken a beating this season and looks skittish. Give him some time in the pocket and he has looked good to great.

Carrs contract was not supposed to be restructured

Remember all the "it's really 3/100" stuff at signing?

I think the answer is: it depends. He is guaranteed $100mm, no getting around it. Does the restructure include only that guaranteed money or is some of it the future signing bonus? Do we know that for sure?

Regardless, he's worth the full $37.5mm per year ($150mm) based on the contracts of other veterans around the league.
