The only issue I have with nicks being in the saints HOF is that he wasn't on the team for very long. He was really good when he was here though

He definitely played a huge role in the Super Bowl so I guess he deserves to be recognized.

does this set a precedent that all you need to do is have a couple of good season in Nola and your a HOFer? Is porter gonna get in? How about sharper? Bobby McCray did almost kill Brett Favre so maybe he should get a look. I kid, I kid.

Obviously I'm being over critical, I just think HOFers should play for the team for an extended period. Not just a few seasons and they bounce.

BUT, it's not up to me. Congrats to Mr. Nicks and thanks for the memories

If nicks doesn't get MRSA then not only is he in the Saints HoF, he is in the NFL HoF. He was more than very good with the Saints. He was elite and arguably the best player in the league at his position. It isn't like porter making the one play to seel up the super bowl. Nicks was maybe the second best player on the team behind only Brees that superbowl year. And you may be out of the loop on this but Sharper is a convicted rapist. He isn't getting any recognition anywhere despite having an NFL HoF career.

Obviously the sharper comment was a joke.

My only argument against yours is that you claim he was this other worldly guard for the saints yet the saints thought that Evans was better. You can't say he was guaranteed future HOFer and what not when our front office didn't even think he was the best guard on the roster.

This is not a knock on Nicks, he was very good for the saints. It's more of a knock on how your hindsight is based solely on speculation and opinion.

Your opinion is that he was the second best player on the team and you speculate that he would have/could have/should have been an NFL HOFer if not for the injury.

I would argue that Vilma and sharper (his rape conviction doesn't change how important he was to our team) we're more important to that '09 team and Evans was every bit as good as Nicks.

fatass spoiled owners like Benson make a fortune off them, but I don't hear you criticizing them. What these players make is peanuts compared to them, so if the Saints wanted him they should have showed it and paid him like they have been doing as of late with the current players.

This is about as stupid as the post you were replying to.

Benson is a seld made billionaire. That took him a lot of hard work for decades.

Also, there is a thing called a salary cap. The Saints were at it then as they are now. So for you to say they should have paid him like they are doing now is idiotic.

Back at you, you're one stupid frick also if you think Tom Benson was a billionaire before owning the Saints. Also, your comment about the salary cap has nothing to do with my comment about NFL players and pro athletes in other sports period becoming rich with how big sports has become. I haven't a clue as to why you felt the need to include that.

Of course he wasn't.

That's not the reason I posted that comment in response to that other poster. He was trying to put Nicks down and I said that in defense of Nicks. You read something else into it, of course it would have been hard for them to keep him after signing Jahri Evans with the salary cap involved, but if they wanted to Loomis could have worked something out like he's done in the past. If it involves converting other players salaries into signing bonuses and what have you, but I really don't care because as I said I meant something else. As for Benson, he bought the Saints for a measly 70 million in 1985, it's laughable now, but you are right in that he owned auto dealerships and took his profits from those dealerships and invested it, and then started buying banks with what he made from that. But it was the Saints that made him a billionaire as the NFL became a juggernaut especially in the millennia years. My apologies for the misunderstanding.
