Very happy for both of those guys but especially for Nicks. He was a dominant force until Tampa's nasty arse locker room intervened.

I always had hard feelings towards Nicks. I loved him with the Saints, but his whole reason for moving to Tampa was because he wanted big time money. Sad part of all that was that he was not even the best guard on our team (Evans IMO). All that aside, Nicks was dominant with the Saints, so this is well deserved.

Also, VILMA!

He deserved to get big time money. Looking down on players for going after a contract is maybe the dumbest thing that sports fans do. Is salary not one of the biggest factors that you consider when deciding your employer? Also, it is pretty unclear who was better between Evans and Nicks.

That is why I said, IMO..

Did not say that he did not deserve big money..

Dumb. We are watching grown azz men play a game and you are lecturing me about caring about contracts? It is sports and they are overpaid anyways. So yeah maybe it is selfish of me to have some hard feelings when I think he could have really helped the Saints out.

It's a stupid damn post, and I don't really care about how you try and justify it, it's just dumb to criticize an athlete for trying to set himself and his family up for life. These guys play a violent sport to entertain y'all, the public, while the rich, fatass spoiled owners like Benson make a fortune off them, but I don't hear you criticizing them. What these players make is peanuts compared to them, so if the Saints wanted him they should have showed it and paid him like they have been doing as of late with the current players. Nicks was a better guard than Evans to me anyways because he played so violently, if you can pay Evans you can pay him as well. The life span or career I should say of an NFL player is very short and you need to get paid while you can before injury takes that opportunity away. Just look what happened to him, he could have lost his life, and you're trying to down the guy for seeking a big pay day. Lmao

I don't begrudge Nicks for wanting the big contract. But if I recall he was pretty butt hurt we were working on Brees deal or we didn't talk to him in a timely manner. I recall he really didn't give us a chance to up our offer

Regardless its water under the bridge and I'm happy for the big man.

It really is one of the dumbest arguments. The only thing they usually come up with is "they're overpaid because it's a game".

I have no issue with Nicks taking the money, the only issue I had with him was how he lied about it. I remember he chose them "because he liked their running game" when we had just finished 6th in the league. Like, just come out and say you want the money man, no one would blame him.

These players make "peanuts", are you serious? LOL now that is funny. 47 Mil is not fuking peanuts you blow hard. The owners made their money to purchase a team like this and give these players the opportunity to make this kind of money. I don't get pissed at the owner of my company because I get paid "peanuts" compared to them. That is a shite arguement.

I respect your opinion on this. Both were great guards and I personally liked Evans better.

He was a biatch about the whole thing. Getting mad because Brees is a bigger piece in the cog than you is childish.

You are an idiot, plain and simple. And it's a waste of ones time to try and get a jackass clown like you to see the error of your lunacy. What pro athletes make compared to what owners make is peanuts. If you can't see that, I don't know what to say. Only the elite athletes like the MJ's, Bryant's, and Lebron Jameses or in the case of football, the QB's like Brees, Manning, Brady and so on make huge bucks, and even they pale in comparison to the owners who are becoming billionaires off the industry. Lol

Yes, these owners had money before to purchase these franchises, but these franchises are making them mega wealthy today with how big sports has become in the US. It dominates every aspect of life today in the modern world as every young person is into some kind of sport, why do you think people today wanna get into buying pro franchises, especially more and more retired athletes now because they know that's where the money is. Derek Jeter is trying to put together a group now to buy the Devil Rays I think, but I'll use Tom Benson as an example. I'm sure when he bought the Saints it was for a relatively cheap price back then and he had the money to do so from owning dealerships, but he was nowhere near being a billionaire back then and look what owning the Saints has done for him and his family in this last decade. After Katrina is when sales and everything really exploded for him, hiring Payton and becoming a winner with winning a super bowl and all is what really made the golden goose for him. He is now super wealthy and is able to buy another pro franchise and own half of New Orleans because of it with all the businesses he owns. Lmao But sure my argument is weak. lol

An athlete like Nicks is worth 47 million because it's all relative to how big sports has become and how valuable he had become by becoming a really good player. Guys today like a Tyrann Mathieu for example are worth every penny they're paid.
