Saints and Patriots have this deal all sewn up. Only part is for Butler to agree to a contract. He will sign the tender saints will send a second and the third pick that we got from new England and receive Butler and our fourth back. Pat's get two picks we get one as they would lose ours anyways with deflategate.

Can't get our fourth back. It was forfeited by the pats due to deflategate

So basically butler for our second, and they gave first for cooks...I can deal with that if true.

Don't forget you move up in third depending on what year that Third is. I have a feeling that one will be next years draft.

we could get their 4th, because the one we sent them was higher and forfeited

It better be. If we get Butler...we need 4 picks in the top 3 rounds.

That's actually the absolute most I would want to give the Pats and still feel comfortable. 2017 2nd & 2018 3rd. Hopefully we we don't have to give that much though.

No, the highest fourth round pick that the Patriots possess at the time of the draft is forfeited.

actually you missed one, this is the 9th butler thread
and he did add something new, his complete uneducated guess at what will happen, stated as fact, and then it even involves getting a draft pick that no longer even exists to be traded lol

Is it forfeited already? Because they had lost the 25th pick in the 4th round but they got it back when the cooks trade happened and they forfeited the pick the saints got.

This is so insightful. I'm glad you didn't post it in one of the other four Butler threads. I'd hate to see this gem of a post get lost in one of those thread. Also, change the title. It's a BS title as in he's already been traded.

Not it has not. The ruling states that new England is to give up it's highest fourth round pick. They cannot trade their own but can any one they pick up

You sure about that? I thought they couldn't trade the one they have? to give up.

So now they can trade theirs, but not the one we gave them

And the other 4th round pick is actually from Seattle I believe

Nope. The forfeit doesn't happen at draft time. That would allow them to trade it away for a fifth to skirt the system.

It also isn't their pick they can't trade. It's whatever would currently be their highest 4th rounder, which is now the Saints 4th. That pick is now gone with the wind unless they get a higher 4th.

according to espn they said NFL rules on the penalty, they stated that pats must forfeit the highest pick they hold in the 4th round of the 2017 draft.

so as of today, that would be the one we gave them, that is why they got their original last pick in the 4th back as soon as they possessed two 4th round picks.

the only way they get the 4th we gave them back is if another team gave them a higher 4th round pick then our 4th round pick was. then the pick we gave them would exist again to be used or traded

So if I follow you correctly the Saints would wind up with
Butler and the NE first round pick(32)

NE would have Cooks, our 2 and our 3

Right?
