Welp, here we go. Not that it's a ton of money for him I suppose, but again...the USC debacle rears its ugly head.

You'd be surprised at how many professional athletes live paycheck to paycheck.

If Reggie is living paycheck to paycheck, then there's something wrong. His contract plus endorsements...$200k should be pocket change for him.

not really, there are alot of Pro athletes that do not have their finances in order and in essence are really playing for free.

I understand this. Maybe the players that are making minimum salary or other unknown players that don't properly regulate their finances, but a player like Reggis Bush, who is making $11 million dollars this year, and who has multiple multi-million dollar endorsement contracts, is not, and I repeat IS NOT living paycheck to paycheck.

If he writes the check he is basically admitting guilt though. He may not want to do this.

Sometimes admitting guilt and putting it behind you and out of the public eye is the best route to go, as oppose to going through a lengthy trial that acts as a distraction and puts you in the negative media eye for a prolonged time.

right, it's not.

just look at how many big time athletes are bankrupt or in serious debt very soon after retiring.

An athlete could be living paycheck to paycheck on Reggie's contract if they have big entourages, bad business deals, or too many paternity cases. Reggie doesn't appear to have any of those though.

or paying off witnesses.

but, we aren't saying Bush is check to check, just that's it's not as crazy to think of it a possibility for some very highly paid athletes.

the feds will need more than NCAA findings to hold Bush accountable for that.

no but the "feds" can compel answers with a little more authority than the NCAA can, and there are a lot more repercussions for lying to them then there are for lying to the NCAA.

Reggie needs to tread lightly here, and not worry about protecting USC.

ETA hey look at that, it wasn't the end of it, I kept posting.

Except he has no reason to lie to them since they can't punish him more than making him pay some money which he can easily afford.

He could tell the Feds everything. I doubt he looking to protect SC much since they've excommunicated him. Also the NCAA probably can't punish SC more for essentially the same actions committed by Bush so he wouldn't have to protect them. If he names and proves more players were getting played sure, but he's not going to do that.

Considering this is the IRS and not the NCAA, he definitely wants to just pay and be done with it.

My question is shouldn't they be going after his mom and dad or whomever for a good portion of that considering they got a portion of the gifts too?
