The Saints believe Baylor QB Bryce Petty "is the best pure passer" in the 2015 draft, according to Bob McGinn.

Mickey said yesterday he wants players that win "now"
Not sure how this helps the team next season or the defense that needs improvements. Thoughts?

I'll rage with the fire of the sun if we draft a damn quarterback in the first round.

That would be the dumbest shite we have done in awhile

Same was said about Rodgers except the Packers were ready to move on. Saints don't have that same mindset.

Its all a smoke screen to get someone like the Jets to bite and want to move back into the 1st to get their QB. Basicly its trade bait.

Wtf no it wasn't. People loved that we got Mark Ingram on this board.

We thought he was going to be the next Emmit Smith. But then we realized what we gave up for him....

I'd love to draft Petty, but if we do it in the first round I will have lost all faith in the organization.

No they really want to trade up. They Dont want Mariota, they want Bradford. They already tried to get him a couple months ago. One way or the other Mariota will go at 2 and before the end of the day he will be an Eagle. How he gets there we shall see.

Is Bryce Petty even a first round talent for any team? Why would the Saints, of all teams, take him that early given their actual needs?

Where in the world has this interest come from for a guy that has played 7 games in the last two seasons?

There were mixed reactions about Ingram. A few just hated the pick, a few loved the pick, a few liked that we were aggressive in getting a highly rated player who had fallen...until they found out what we gave up to move up.

As for Petty, #31 is too high. I think we go with some combination of ILB/WR with 31 & 44. (Let's say P. Dorset & D. Perryman) If Petty is there with our next pick, sure I'm all for it.

He may not be there at 31st pick. Now the other Qb they worked out would be but he may not be there at 44th pick.I hate to trade picks but to move a few spots they could look to trade a late pick.I still think they trade one or more players on roster for a pick or two.Or the 3rd option the Oregon Qb with one of the two 5th round picks. Thru 2006 --2014 i can only recall Canfield as the only Qb Payton has drafted.Or trade one of the 5th round picks for the young Tampa Qb who Saints were close to Drafting when he came out of college.

This dude has a 4th to 6th round grade, some people say he should go undrafted.

idk man i just see way too many holes to fill. and to use a 1st round pick on QB would be a waste IMO. Even at 44 i think would be a reach.

This is an asinine statement. Teams that don't plan for the future have no future. QB is THE most critical position of any team. If Paeyton believes Petty fits his offense, and the scouts agree he is a 1st round grade, then drafting him is the right thing to do. You don't ignore the position when the man currently holding it is at the end of his career. You prepare for when his end comes and have a plan in place so that you don't miss too many beats.

Remember how long it took for us to find a good QB? Let's not get stuck in that rut again. So no, it's not the dumbest shite to draft the future at the position; it's actually quite smart.

Rodgers sat for a few years. Farve was still a legit starter but very old...probably drew's age.

To draft 3rd or 4th round Qb at 31? Lol ok sure.

Exactly. I wish someone would find the draft day thread. There were mixed reactions, but most loved that Payton seemed to be moving towards a feature back.

While this may be your ranking, that doesn't mean it is where teams that have been scouting him are ranking him. There has been enough chatter of him possibly being drafted at the end of the first, so your ranking is not in line with others'. This draft is too fluid in that each team's boards will be completely different due to the similarity in talent grade for players 20-40. In the end maybe they do draft him in the 3rd, and you will be proven correct in your ranking.
