Didn't read but I don't believe for one minute that his family tried to kill him. I do however believe that his gold digging wife convinced him that they did.

Our organization needs some type of behind the scenes 30 for 30.

It's a fricking travesty that a man who really has done a lot for the state has to deal with this in his last few years of being alive.

I certainly don't know the inner workings. It's certainly possible that they really were trying to kill him. However, making a public statement like that does sound something like the ramblings of a going senile old man. It isn't exactly how an intelligent and rational person would handle a plot on his life.

ETA: Although after reading that short article, it does sound like he is being dramatic for effect. It seems like something that he has been in the habit of doing more than once.

I dont think he meant they were trying to poison him or stab him... just that they were causing him alot of stress when he is old and decrepit.

You're the world's greatest detective. It was explained clearly:

quote:

They tried to kill me for one thing,” Benson said. Asked to explain further, Benson said, “You know by picking on my wife and when I wasn’t feeling very good they were very hostile.”

quote:

Benson specifically referred to a December 2014 incident in which his wife, Gayle Benson, was physically assaulted at a Saints game. A prior report indicated that granddaughter Rita Benson LeBlanc accosted Gayle Benson. Tom Benson testified that his daughter, Renee, was the aggressor.

Tom Benson also testified that he believed his heirs were trying to take the teams away from him.

“They attacked me, you got to know,” Benson said. “That’s why I don’t want to leave them anything. Okay?”

Some of you people are so fricking stupid. And it's not just you it, it reaches all the way to national "journalists".

First of all, most of you didn't read the article, because he didn't mean it literally at all.

Second of all, in the beginning, he said he was leaving all of them a shite load of money, he just didn't want to leave them in control of the actual sports teams. He said that multiple times. They are all getting millions of dollars, they just aren't getting controlling stake in the sports teams because they've all proved to be incompetent pieces of shite.

Then they went on this campaign to get him declared incompetent and mentally incapacitated and publicly humiliated him and his wife, so he said frick you then. As he should have. frick them.

Get your facts straight before you bash Tom Benson, one of the greatest men ever born in New Orleans.

Yeah and I didn't post this article to flame or suggest that he meant it literally. I was just sharing the latest news on the topic

That wife is the devil, I've seen this too many times. Weak for the pussy old man gonna give this bitch everything so she can just transfer all his hard work to her family tree. Sure his will have money yet hers will live off the teams forever, what a joke. These whores never cease to amaze me

I think that honor goes to you...

The title of the article clearly tries to have scandalous implications. If you disagree you are wrong. I clearly based the comment on this. Then I clearly stated that the short excuse for an article sounded different than the title. Hence it was clearly misleading. But you probably already used your incredible powers of reasoning to put this together.

It really is unbelievable - and the fact that none of his grandsons were ever interested in the Saints is so weird to me.

If any of them were halfway normal people they'd have inherited a billion dollar asset that is the crown jewel of American possessions - Donald Trump is perhaps going to be the most powerful person on the planet and even he was unable to buy an NFL team

It isn't that weird. I know multiple people who have very successful fathers and refused taking over the business. People, especially males, sometimes want to forge their own path.

Clearly, you don't know how to properly use pronouns.
