The grievance hearing for Saints franchise player Jimmy Graham is scheduled for June 17-18.

The NFL's Management Council decides what position franchise tags are applied to. They ruled Graham was a tight end despite lining up in the slot or split wide on 67 percent of his snaps. The NFLPA has filed an appeal of that ruling, hoping Graham will be deemed a wide receiver and thus earn more than $5 million extra on his 2014 deal.

He's still a tight receiver.

If they rule in favor of him as a WR, it's going to frick up a lot of cap structure throughout the league.

Total BS that he is a WR. Look how often we lined up Reggie Bush in the slot or as a wide out. Was he a WR. NO!!!

I know it's been said a lot on here, but a ruling that he should be paid like a WR should immediately force the league to strip him of any special recognition he got this season for a TE.
I know it most probably won't mean jackshit to him anyway.
Brees is sitting back like a cheerleader saying "Pay him!". Why? Because it may well force the team to restructure his contract early in order to come up with the extra $5M. Mo cash, Mo cash!

So if a team has Michael Vick, Cam Newton, Tebow, Johnny Football, etc, could they appeal that their QB should be paid the low salary of running back instead of a quarterback in a franchise year???

I was going to say you were a terrible poster in the Hester thread, but you're doing a pretty good job of letting everyone know yourself.

Eh, he's only a bad poster when it comes to Drew's contract. Overall he's pretty good IMO. Except the whole Sean Payton drafting receivers thing
