Oh well.
Henderson has the second best call in the history of sports: "It's good! It's good! It's gooo-oooo-ooood!"
Nothing will ever top "Do you believe in miracles? YES!"

quote:Actually my fave Henderson call is "Hakim drops the ball!!". The Hartley FG was good, but it was obviously planned. Hakim was so spontaneous, you could hear the joy in his voice. "Brian Milne, the most unlikely hero of them all..."

Somewhat--he probably didn't plan ahead for every possible way of winning the game. He had a little time to think about it when it went to OT and when Hartley lined up for the kick. Plus there was enough emotion in the moment that he couldn't even keep his voice steady. The "Pigs have flown" part was probably planned years in advance but the kick being good wasn't a sure thing so there was still some spontaneity.

Good point. I think it's also the Peyton Manning rule (didn't he get knocked out one year earlier on a FG?)

I don't know if it's the losses. He's seen his fair share of losses and usually handles them with humor. But, he does seem much less enthusiastic. Your comment on his energy is on point. It really feels like he's done to me.

Did you not see the 2009 NFC championship? It was mostly media driven, but there was definitely a lot of butthurt that Favre never got the ball in overtime. I remember Tony Kornheiser, Costas, Madden and a lot of other prominent broadcasters (mostly not former players) complaining it wasn't fair to the "underappreciated gunslinger".
I'm sure the board can provide more examples of the slobbering over Favre's faux greatness.

My 3 all time JH calls:
1) Hakim drops the ball
2) Tracy Porter SB Pick 6
3) Screaming NOOOO and his little tirade when John Carney missed the XP after the River City Relay

Of course. I just swear I remember the Chargers knocking the Colts out of the playoffs the year before and the media whining about Peyton not getting the ball in overtime. So it might have been an issue of two straight years where a BSPN favorite got "screwed".
My memory might be a little off though.

I was really surprised when I heard the call on my way home. Was really lackluster for Jim, who IMO is one of the very best.

You get far more insight from national press than you will ever get from the beats.
Jim is excellent, but I can't tolerate WWL for 3 hours.

Fine then.
Does anyone have a link to his CJ Spiller call?

The other posters were spot on.
It wasn't his best call.

Try this link. It's always reliable when I can't get somewhere to watch the game.

I miss when NFL.com would show the highlights with the radio commentary for both teams. It was the only way I used to watch highlights.
