Now that the season is underway way and it doesn't look like Peat will crack the starting lineup barring an injury, how bad of a pick was that?
I'm not calling the kid a bust at all. I actually think he will be a great tackle eventually, but with all the holes on this team we had no business drafting a tackle without a plan to get him on the field immediately. I feel like the FO tries to hard to draft BPA and although it's worked great in mid to late rounds, I absolutely hate doing it with a top 15 pick.

I don't think he;ll be a bust. He'll be our starting RT likely next season. But when you had three picks in the first two rounds and you use the first one on a guy you're not even gonna use, it doesn't make much sense. Especially when we need pass rushers as badly as we did and we could have had a guy like Shane Ray.

Grayson was a more questionable pick than Peat

Can't ever have enough CBs and pass rushers. Whoever was the highest in their board.

Which players were available at that pick at those positions?

I thought the four chances the secondary had to make a pick Sunday sucked worse. JMO

Marcus Peters
Shane Ray
Bud Dupree

still very optimistic about the season and think Peat will be a good player.
...but i agree...super bowl teams draft depth at the 32nd pick.
We should have at least tried to draft a starter.

At the time, the only 2 other guys that I would have considered were Devante Parker and Bud Dupree.

I got blasted for saying this when we drafted him so get ready.
We should have drafted Devante Parker.
I'm all for taking a project tackle. It worked out perfect with Armstead. We could have taken a tackle in the mid rounds to develop.
I honestly beleive we tried to move up to get Beasley, but couldn't get a deal done. Based on SP's comments after the draft, I think Shelton was our next choice. Other than Parker, I don't think there was a good value at an area of need at that spot.

I don't think he's the project that people have portrayed him as. After they said he wasn't moving to Guard, unless he comes out looking like Anthony Munoz they weren't starting him this year. He was more good than bad when playing in the preseason.

It's not like we have glaring needs at other positions

That's my point. They are looking for too much value at every pick and not filling needs that are staring at them right in the face.
I'm not sure what the Galette situation was at the time of the draft but we are in serious need of any kind of pass rush.

If you wanted a to sure up the o-line depth then you could have used a 2nd or 3rd pick(Grayson). Sorry but a top 15 pick should be seeing significant playing time barring an injury on Sunday.

Well this is a completely new and refreshing thread.
