Sean Lumpkin #46
He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 4th round (106th overall) of the 1992 NFL Draft.

Played with the Saints from 92-96. He had 165 tackles, 2 interceptions and 1 int returned for a touchdown.

I don't remember him being that good. I though he was just ehh, but Canal Street Chronicles named him one of the worst all time defensive players of the Saints.
quote:

SS: Sean Lumpkin - Lumpkin started 4 years for the Saints are was largely bad, constantly going for big hits that didn't happen, not too different from Tebucky Jones. He also had bricks for hands and was hit in the numbers without coming up with the pick numerous times.

From Wiki:
quote:

Sean Franklin Lumpkin (born January 4, 1970 in Golden Valley, Minnesota) was an American football defensive back in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints who drafted him out of the University of Minnesota. While at Minnesota Lumpkin played four years and accrued numerous awards:

1990: All Big Ten Second Team
1991: All Big-Ten First Team, Bronko Nagurski Award (Team MVP), Carl Eller Award (Outstanding Defensive Player), Captain

Lumpkin was the 106th player selected in the 1992 NFL Draft and played 67 games for the Saints between 1992 and 1996. He was released by the Saints in June 1997.

Let me tell ya a little story 'bout a man named Jed...

Jedidiah Gabriel "Jed" Collins:

He took the long road to starting in the NFL. Good to see a guy who has put i this much time and effort have it pay off.
quote:

signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2008 NFL Draft. He was waived during final cuts, but was re-signed to the team's practice squad
quote:

from the practice squad on October 21. Collins was signed to the Chicago Bears' practice squad on October 28, 2008, but was released on November 24.
quote:

signed by the Cleveland Browns on November 26, 2008, and was a member of the active roster for two games before he was waived and re-signed to the team's practice squad on December 11. He was not re-signed by the Browns following the 2008 season.

quote:

signed to a two-year contract by the Kansas City Chiefs on January 8, 2009, but was waived during final cuts on September 4.

quote:

to the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad on November 4, but was released on November 24
quote:

re-signed to the Browns' practice squad on December 2
quote:

waived by the Browns prior to the start of training camp on June 15.

quote:

signed by the Tennessee Titans on August 6, 2010, but was waived during final cuts on September 4.

quote:

to the New Orleans Saints' practice squad on September 23. After Heath Evans retired, Collins became the Saints' starting fullback.

Jed went to high school and played on the football and basketball team with Mark Sanchez.

In his Saints/NFL career, he has had 25 receptions for 120 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also had 4 carries for 4 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Not sure why, but there are a ton of good pictures of Collins on the interweb.

#40 Robert Massey - CB drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 2nd round (46th overall) out of North Carolina Central in the 1989 NFL Draft. Appeared and started 32 games for the Saints. Had 5 interceptions and 165 tackles. Then he went on to play for the Phoenix Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants. He actually made the Pro Bowl in 1992 for the Cardinals.

ALSO, in honor of Canada Day, here's a picture of Akiem Hicks who we drafted from the the Regina Rams which is in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport League.

And here's a picture of Rueben Mayes who was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada.

And if you subtract Massy's number from Hicks number, you get... 40 Hooray Math!

Jumping a little ahead Bayou. We're only on 31.

Jimmy Taylor, whose number was "retired" by the Saints. Probably why you don't see any #31's from 1967 to 2001.

He did play for the Saints in 1967 and had 130 carries for 390 yards.
