Aaron Brooks' backwards pass competes for "Worst play in NFL History"

There’s an even better version of the Gabbert play, though, and it requires us to go back to November 7, 2004, when Aaron Brooks decided to show the Chargers what he could do.
This is better because it seems fully controlled. Brooks was under some duress, but it wasn’t like he was in the grasp of a defender and tried to just get the ball out. There has to have been at least some part of Brooks that genuinely thought his best idea was to throw the ball backward 10 yards to a receiver, albeit one who turned out to not actually be there. It’s also great because the Vine fades to black without revealing what happened next. Mike McCarthy was this team’s offensive coordinator, so I assume it involved a field goal.

Dan Orlovsky just because that team didn't win a single game

the brooks play may very well deserve #1
i actually don't think the safety was that bad of a play. yes it's bad, but he just stepped out too far avoiding the rush in the end zone.
throwing the ball backwards to stop the rush takes the cake for me.

That was great. Forgot about the Eagles hiding Riley Cooper in the endzone against us.

Yah that was crazy - shows how hectic an NFL stadium is.

reason #3277 that the disdain this board has for Brooks is well-placed.

Hokie's reaction on WWL right after it happened was classic. Henderson was speechless and Gajan said, "What.....the hell ....was that?"

HOF, genuinely a great guy but I remember when that happened I was thinking at that point, that summed up the entire Saints history with that play. Every time you thought you had some momentum, anytime there was ever a glimmer of momentum that type of thing happened.
