Does who starts really even matter?

We gonna feed the hot hand. Whoever is more efficient will get the carries. Who is in for the first snap shouldnt matter to those guys.

You're missing the point and focusing too much on the word "start." AP is saying he wants to be the guy who gets the carries, meaning he's busting his arse to make sure he's got the hot hand in games more often than not.

Kamara is much closer to P. Thomas than he is to Reggie Bush in terms of speed

Yep RB ran a 4.33 40 at the combine.

Guess what , AP ran a 4.4 which is ridiculous for someone his size

He's such a dominant all around back that I think he'll still be able to produce for us in his twilight years. He doesn't fully rely on either his elite speed or his power alone. Since he is elite in both areas he should be able to age a little more gracefully than someone like Chris Johnson. Starting at a 4.4 he can afford to lose a step and still be a great RB with his other talents. I think if he stays healthy he will be THE guy, no disrespect to Mark who is also great.

Can't wait for preseason. No idea how this RB situation is going to pan out.

I think Cadet is gone. Not sure who will return kicks off and punts though.

New coaches, better focus on special teams, much better DB backfield.

And, ridiculous options at RB.

New coaches

to me that should be the biggest difference.

but the thought of AP as a Saint is truly alluring. I don't follow the pessimistic view of his age or whatever.

I think he'll do fine in New Orleans and Ingram should play with more of a sense of urgency now too. Not saying that he hasn't before but that it should be an interesting/profitable opportunity for him.

I think MI can opt out after this year from what I have been reading.

This year we have a great 3 headed monster.

I still think AP will end up getting the more of the carries he is stays healthy.

Ingram himself has only logged a 16 game season a few times.

2012, 2016.

the fewest ever was his rookie in 2011 with 10 games played. Had a foot or toe injury I think.

most he's ever carried in a year was 226 attempts in 2014.

Kamara or Ginn. They're both proven commodities compared to the rest of our roster.

I'll be disappointed if Cadet ever returns a kickoff for us again. Sure he doesn't fumble, but he never gets past the 25 yard line. Tommylee Lewis is another option, but he & Marcus Murphy just can't be trusted to hold onto the ball...especially on punt returns. Talk about nerve racking.

Ginn has fumble issues too.

Cadet was terrible, no vision.

Hopefully since we have new ST coaches running the show they get it right this time.

Dural has no experience since 2013 returning punts and none on kickoffs. That might lift Tommylee past him for that last spot. Don't see how they keep Murphy.

As a coach wouldn't you want any running back you sign to have this attitude. If Daniel Lasco isn't trying to win the job over AP and Ingram I don't want him on the team either.

Look I loved Pierre Thomas , he was a great utility back, and was a major reason we won a Super Bowl . That being said, Kamara has far more upside strictly from an athletic standpoint . I think the closest comparison would be Reggie bush but he's not quite as fast , what he lacks in speed he makes up in elusiveness and moxy. Kid may end up being a big time player in Peyton's offense .

In terms of running style what I have seen he seems closer to Pierre with awesome balance and body control along with decent patience in waiting for blocks.

Anonymous Saints player's description of Peterson - "Beast" ; "Ingram's good, but AP's on another level".

Is no one gonna address that the 3 reasons in that article were utterly ridiculous?

AP will start because he almost has the record in 3 major categories?

The saints are going to choose their starting RB based on how near they are to a career milestone?

I'm not saying AD won't start, I'm just saying that the reasoning in that article is laughable.

Also agree with the hot hand argument and I think Kamara is a beast. To settle the comparisons, he's not like Pierre or Reggie, he's a little of both. Fast and quick with good hands like Reggie but surprisingly strong like Pierre.

People keep talking about a hot hand, what the hell is that?

I think of Leonard Fornette, does he not always have a hot hand?

Similar to 2009 when Pierre and Mike Bell shared the carries.

In the first half, they'd equally split carries and whoever was most effective in the first half, got the he majority of the carries in the second half.

And there you have the definition of "feed the hot hand."

Not sure MI and AP deviate enough to seperate themselves based on defense.

I think Ingram will still be the guy but AP is obviously a huge upgrade over Hightower.

I think teams will be able to key on AP a little easier than Ingram too cause AP isn't necessarily known as an active pass catching back. But I guess now that he's in New Orleans maybe that could change somewhat??

Kamara is a unknown and fits the satellite back role. He might have a real good game one week where he has a handful of nice gains then you might not hear from him for the next 2-3 games.

I hope that's not the case and he surprises but counting on him to steal touches in the backfield from AP or Ingram doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Unless of course one or both of them get hurt.
