If they take a WR in round one (even if it is a late 1st as expected), that player needs to be seen as an excellent speed threat #2 wideout or a #1 receiver who is seen as an immediate upgrade on older Colston.

I think the chances of grabbing a potential #1 CB in the late first next year are better from the mocks I've seen so far. A guy like UF's Purifoy (a 6'1" corner with great ball skills and speed) makes a whole lot of sense since Greer could fall off the age cliff very soon.

First round?

Wouldn't mind seeing La'El Collins to compete at either Guard or to push the OTs.

Offensive Tackle and Corner back should be the only thing on our board. Perhaps Guard and Center too.

unless we think that we have our offensive tackle on the board as is. We've had much more success in FA corners than drafted corners too.

I hate the idea of drafting a 1st round corner

Maybe an Inside Backer. Really have to see what type of value we can get with our pick.

I think that is really the key.

I can see us drafting a variety of positions outside of RB, Guard, Safety, and Dline (at least in the first few rounds)

Oh?

Interesting you say.

Cuz see...there's this guy.

Though he won't last past 20, imo.

I thought I read it wasn't a bad injury to come back from and he should be 100% for next year

This is a way too early list of potential Saints picks IMHO:

Khalil Mack OLB
James Hurst OT
Bradley Roby CB
Antonio Richardson OT
Bryan Stork C
De'Anthony Thomas RB
Lache Seastruck RB
Corey Robinson OT
La'el Collins OT
Jason Verrett CB

Sefarian-Jenkins would be awesome, but honestly I'd rather go playmaking WR or someone like D Thomas from Oregon. He would be absolutely nuts in this offense.

I like Mosely a lot but I think that'd be overkill since both Lofton and Hawthorne have been very good this year. Not to mention young, impact fil depth from Humber

That Ben Watson guy is pretty good too and he's in the first year of a three year deal.

QUESTION: Would anyone here be completely irate if the Saints put the franchise tag on Jimmy Graham, traded him for a starting offensive tackle and then drafted Austin Seferian-Jenkins?

Yes. Graham is elite. You need some elite players if you want to get to the superbowl. Our system will work well enough without him to rack up some wins in the regular season, but if we want to beat the physical defenses in playoff games we have to have someone that truly scares the opponents and make them gameplan against him. Otherwise the San frans and Seattles of the world are gonna shut down our average wrs and throw off our timing.

Irate wouldn't approach describing the anger I would feel

Hell, Miami just got Bryant McKinnie for a conditional late round pick. So yes....I'd be pretty upset

Saints haven't released information about how serious it is. If it's a major tear, then yes, he's probably done. But a minor tear is not that hard to come back from, it just takes time.
