re: Would you be pleased w/ Tari Eason at 7-10?

The only way I can see the Pelicans being interested in a guy like Eason in a logjam at the forward position is if they want insurance for Zion if he gets injured again and they don’t trust Hayes to be the only option to fill in next season if things goes haywire. You can scheme actions for Eason to go downhill to go right. But his bread and butter early on will be hustle and energy to score while he develops his 3 point shot.

Dyson Daniels looks to have a lot of potential
I really really like Daniels. If he becomes even an average 3pt shooter I think he's more effective than Mathurin or Davis, who I also like. He just does so much for you on both ends.

Yeah, long 6’8 guard that can defend and switch on the perimeter while still being able to set up his teammates. That’s a player we could use as a Pelican
I’m honestly all in on Daniels’ potential. He’d be a great piece off the bench and I think he could contribute day 1 like Herb did

Surprised by some of the comments. Eason may not be an elite shooter but he is a good shooter, he isn't going to be some project when it comes to hitting open shots. He shot 36% from 3 on 2.5 attempts and shot 80% from the line on nearly 6 attempts. He also already is a solid multi positional defender and can score off the dribble getting to the rim.
I wouldn't hate the pick at 8 or 9. Id rather Mathurin/Sharpe but Eason can contribute and be a long term replacement for Nance as a backup 4 and small ball 5.

Eason would be a very good pick if a team or two behind the Pelicans jump them into the top 4.
Having either him or Jones on the floor at all times will cover up a lot of McCullom and Williamson guarding mistakes.

Yeah, seems like a lot of people don’t truly know him.

No I want Benedict! He'll be perfect! A A+ Defender that creates his own shots, drives the ball like a point guard, and leathal from the 3... Best wing in the draft to me!

A few things we need to understand when it comes to drafting.
1) Fred Vinson won't magically fix every shot. Some kids don't have the mindset, work ethic, coachability, etc to do that. Plus there is a big difference between Fred making Herb someone defenses have to respect vs Trey as someone defenses cannot give any space to.
2) Every kid is going to have deficiencies. So you need to find someone with an elite skill set and build from there. I think we saw in the playoffs that you can never have enough wing defenders or 3-point shooting. That's why I love Dyson Daniels.
3) Whomever we draft, won't play much next season. A guy like Mutherin is great and he'd be exciting, but he won't see much of the court. So why not take a guy that needs some time
4) Tari Eason is elite on the defensive end. He's got switchability, tenacity, etc. If you think he can develop into your Robert Williams/Bam Adebayo in 3 years, you get him. I doubt he can, that may be more Jalen Duren. You could also say Jeremy Sochen if you want to take a gamble at the future replacement "5."
Essentially what I'm saying, is that you can never go wrong with an elite prospect (that only includes the top 4 to me), an elite skillset (wing defending or 3-point shooting), or take a gamble to build out your future frontcourt next to Zion.
The names of those guys might change amongst each of us, but the concept should remain the same

My biggest concern with Eason are his turnovers and fouling, but I did not realize how those two numbers were very similar to Herb’s in college.
