I made the other thread about AD with the mindset that he has not made the leap we were hoping for from last season. It could be said this is happening bc the lack of coaching and style. I like AD and want to see him get the max out of his gifted ability. I absolutely believe that Gentry is killing his game.

We'd be right around the 5/6 seed right now and people would probably be calling for his head. Lol.

Some posters on here refuse to see just how bad Gentry is.

He's seems to be bad. But Monty got out all he could with this team the years he was here. 2 playoffs. 3 lotteries.

He'd play to his players strengths instead of forcing a style of play non-conducive to winning with the talent at hand.

Probably around .500, which is where we were last year.

This team is performing (right now) the exact same as they were this time last year. We just had a much better start of the season. Losing every other game for a month and a half meant we remained around .500

For every good game that we look motivated/focused/in sync/whatever, we have a game like tonight where we lose to a far inferior opponent because we're lucky to have 1 guy on the floor who is actually trying to play. That's what we look like now, and what we looked like this time last year.

I'm not ready to say Monty would really have this team in a significantly better place. Better record? Sure. Looking like a contender in the West? Nah.

Yes.

In the sense that we would be continuing the same type of system and carrying it over.

Do I think Monty would of made us a championship caliber team with this roster? No. Do I think the move to fire Monty was the right one? Yes. Not sure Gentry is the right guy and I was skeptical from the onset. Wanted Thibs or JVG personally.

Lets remember a few things about Monty here. Last year we were 1-3 in games with 3 days or more of rest. People say Monty would have us prepared for this game. Bull Shite. In games with 2 days rest we were 6-7. That puts us in totality at 7-10 with 2 days plus of rest under Monty last year.

I doubt it.

They would have a better record. They wouldn't have been 1-11 to start the season. Continuity matters, especially with apocalyptic injuries

Same time, they've been .500 for over a month. The offense has been good enough, the defense sucks. Sounds familiar.

Monty wasn't particulary good. He was better than many thought though. Gentry has been about the same as Monty, but we were hoping he would be better. That's disappointing, to say the least.

I said this a few years ago while defending Monty and I think it still holds true today:

This roster is like a tough Chopped basket. Monty and Gentry may not be the guys who can turn it into a good meal, but I don't know how many coaches could.

Winning record, probably no.

Better record than now, I'd say definitely yes.
