So... Gordon to Dallas for Marion, who will retire rather than report?

Not necessarily a problem to me. Clears up a ton of cap space for us.

They have a similar player in Monta Ellis for half the money Gordon gets paid. The only takers for Gordon are going to be younger up and coming teams that are able to justify that much for Gordon because they don't have much else on the roster.

Charlotte, line one.

We could get Ben Gordon's corpse and maybe some other kind of throw-in for him.

I agree, and I would be the teams that could possible be interested based on that (without looking at salary situations) as:

Charlotte
Detroit
Cleveland
Boston

And possibly:

Milwaukee
Denver
Utah
Atlanta

Spencer Hawes

I would love to have Spencer Hawes on this team. He's the type of guy who does the dirty work that we need to pair with AD. And he's relitively young.

Signing Deng to a huge contract would put the Pels in the same position as it was in with Gordon. He is getting old and has his own injury past to deal with.

We should just look at Danny Granger. He won't cost much and the risk would be worth the reward.

The team need multiple players if they have the cap room, not one guy. Maybe add guys who will actually compliment the existing players?? hmm could be an idea!

It's robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Williams has a little more range to his shot, but both suck offensively and Aminu is better at rebounding.

I just think having competence and floor spacing on offense will go a long way...I like Aminu, but at this point, it doesn't seem like he's developing an offensive game...shooting at SF is critical, imo...especially if Evans/Rivers play SG

...if we add a center along with Williams, I don't think we miss Aminu's rebounding as a team...Williams has rebounded well this season, too (5.3 RPG to Aminu's 6.7).

Joe Dumars is on "perilously thin ice" LINK Cleveland's acting GM says they are more likely to be buyers than sellers and are looking to add talent, not subtract it. LINK

I don't think that actually helps us much because Gordon is such a known quantity the only teams that will take him are ones that truly don't have better options.

Young is also from New Orleans.

me too, but I doubt they're attainable

Put a decent shooter at the 3 and Tyreke at the 2 instead of Gordon and Tyreke can help make up the rebounding difference.

and everyone will want Evan Turner first, Gordon maybe as a back-up plan.

...that would be ideal, imo...I like B. Gordon expiring and Biyombo

There is way to much talk about 76er players on here. Seems like people on here want to assemble the 76ers lineup from last season +Anthony Davis.

And for those who want Thaddeus Young... He has played PF for 90% of his career and doesn't shoot from the outside very well.

I think people want the 76ers line up from two years ago and AD.

I'm still convinced the plan is to trade Gordon and let Reke/Rivers play the 2.

Without going into the SF and C spot, right now, I'd like us to trade Gordon and see a starting line up of:

Jrue/Jackson
Evans/Rivers
???
Davis/Anderson
???/Smith

Would love one of the Denver SFs (Gallo, W Chandler), but I don't think we have a real shot at trading for either of them and dumping Gordon.

Gallo/Gortat or Chandler/Hawes would be awesome

David Aldridge on who's available:

quote:

8. Eric Gordon, Pelicans (two years, $30.3 million remaining through 2015-16)

The Pelicans need a big man to play alongside Anthony Davis. They've got Tyreke Evans to play the two alongside Jrue Holiday. They've denied it, but they've been shopping Gordon for a while. So, what gives?

"The reason they can't move Eric Gordon now," a general manager said Sunday, "is because he's not the same player he was before the injuries."

And that's why moving Gordon could come back to bite New Orleans.

Gordon's had a bunch of injuries the last three seasons, no question -- a chipped bone in his wrist cost him 18 games in 2010-11, and right knee injuries in 2011-12 and 2012-13 kept him out a total of 86 games over those two seasons -- or, a full season-plus. The Clippers couldn't wait on him any longer, and ultimately pulled the trigger to send Gordon to N'awlins (keeping Eric Bledsoe) in order to facilitate the Chris Paul deal in 2011.

But most injuries -- most, not all -- heal. And Gordon showed when he was healthy that he was one of the most explosive and talented two guards in the league -- 22 a night for the Clippers in his last full season there. The Suns gave him that $56 million offer sheet just two summers ago, after all, a deal that New Orleans matched in order to hold onto its asset.

Pelicans owner Tom Benson wants the team to make a playoff run right quick, though, so the pressure is on to surround Davis with as many quality pieces as possible. So Gordon may well be gone in a week and a half, though that $30 mil is a big nut these days.
