is that an option, i remembered this being talked about as a possibility.

is it know DC doesn't want to sign a max money extension now?

To me, it doesn't make sense for Boogie to do it this year on multiple levels. A) he wants to see where the team will be before committing long term and B) he'd get more money by waiting a year

If the team has cap space then it is an option because they can give him a raise in the extension. Without the raise you are basing the extension off of Cousins old cap salary and he'd lose a lot of money.

I think it's a virtual lock that if they raised him from $18 to $30 million in an extension he'd sign immediately. He was going to stay in Sacramento's dumpster fire for the money.

the landscape of the NBA is shifting and just like Jrue I think Boogie is going to want to see what kind of offers he can field and what types of teams/market he could be apart of

Would be nice to sign Boogie long-term and then swing a trade for Rubio using the 2018 first and Moore or something along those lines.

Agree. This season is make or break for this franchise with this core.

Another sub .500 and I think the front office is gone as is Cousins.

Considering Boogie stands to make more by rejecting an extension then signing a new deal than taking the extension, the chances of him taking that extension are slim and none.

I believe he would get more money with a renegotiation and extension. This year's salary could be negotiated to max instead of $18M, so that's $12M more and then extend for 4 years at max. I guess it would be less money in that he wouldn't technically have that 5th year on the next contract, but if he thinks he could always renegotiate before that deal is up.
