I believe he wanted a multi year guarantee that we didn't offer. Sac did.

Goes back to incompetence. His name alone should guarantee him a multi year contract. Instead we want to spend big money on centers that don't see the court.

We didn't give up on him, he decided to take more money somewhere else.

Retarded comment. That's like saying Klay's older brother deserves a multi year contract because of his name.

I know you didn't intentionally leave out details, but I feel context matters here. He got a WHOPPING 2 yr/2m from Sac with a 2nd year player option. We gave Ajinca a deal that offseason that paid him 5m annually.

Also there's a freaking ocean between Carlisle and Gentry as coaches. I don't put much stock into "WTF he's blowing up" when they are on the Mavs/Celts/Spurs (3,2,1 IMO coaches).

Curry just ran into a hard spending limit that had already been reached. I'm pretty sure they only reason we're not saddled with Norris Cole on a long term deal is because the other guys got their deals done before Demps hit the amount of long term salary he thought he could take on and still target a max player in the following offseason.

Yeah roster space was important at the time too. He didn't look super excited to be sitting behind Jrue/Gordon/Evans. He didn't develop last year after we let him go. He developed under Rick Carlisle, so this is one I simply say "meh" to and move on. I'd easily trade our 2018 unprotected first for Carlisle btw if the Mavs want to reboot and he doesn't want to be a part of the rebuild years...

we had plenty of guards at the time and he did not look as good as his does now and he did not really do much in Sacramento either

it has more to do with how good of a coach Carlisle is

Seth would not have developed under our coaching

U mean why'd he play on our summer league team then decide to go play with someone who offered him a bigger and better contract because they had more money to spend... you mean that giving up?

Was anyone clamoring for him and saying we messed up when we gave up on him?

It's not like teams were lining up for his services.

Chew on this. The Kings got rid of Cousins, Thomas, and Curry.
