re: Why moving Gordon isn't as high of a priority anymore

That comes down to whether the Wiz are ready to move him. If they offer Ariza more than MLE-ish amounts, you have to think they'll try to move him.
The general thought is that the Wiz have wanted to move Webster for a while now between Ariza stepping up and Otto Porter being drafted.
It's more a question of what they think they can get out of us for him.
If they are willing to take Rivers, I can live with that if we find a way to make sure we have enough cap space for both Webster and Asik.
Sending out Gordon to them is a non-starter while sending Anderson to them better result in a lot more assets coming our way than just Webster.

But I no longer feel that letting Gordon live out his contract would threaten the future of the team. Crisis averted. Signing the right SF to the MLE is much more important now.
I can't say that I disagree too much with your overview but there are a few comments.
First, unless EG shows solid play next season, there will be a stronger push to move him and a better chance to do so because of the expiring contract. If EG stinks or is hurt again, we're absolutely stuck with him for 2 years.
Secondly, Demps hasn't shown that he has an eye for cheap talent (Morrow is the only player who comes close). Other than AD and Ryno, everyone else is overpaid.

It pains to me to say but Fletch was right, we should not have signed Gordon to that ridiculous contract

I definitely disagree here. He's done a pretty decent job finding bargains and end of bench guys. He hasn't done a great job at putting the midlevel pieces in place...guys 6-9 on the roster.

Moving Gordon isn't a high priority anymore because he CAN'T move Gordon
Let's not make a whole mess of excuses about this. It's as simple as that.

It's a necessity to me damnit

Moving Gordon is my highest priority right now so that danman will stop talking about moving him.

The question isn't who has he found (because he has found some- like many GMs), but how do these guys fit a larger profile?
They are usually minimum level after thoughts so their impact is always going to be peripheral, but they can be useful to help identify characteristics of a "Demps" player.

Yeah. I really think Dell does a pretty decent job of finding these guys.
Its the big picture, making the pieces fit, and middle of roster that seems to be...interesting.

I like Marvin Williams
Posted on 6/27/14 at 2:15 pm to drake20
Marvin Williams has developed into a decent player that does a few things ok, but nothing really really well.
And he's a pretty average (at best) 3 point shooter. Best season ever was 38.9% two years ago, last year was 35%.
We would definitely need some more 3 point shooters.

He's a good rebounder. He effectively gives what aminu gives you and teams won't sag off of him to crowd the paint.

I'm shooting for a little higher than that.
Seriously, I want a jumpshooter at that position, but we are going to need to take what we can get, I guess.
