If CP3 goes, it'll be in the offseason of 2012, and we'll hopefully get to do a sign and trade for our troubles.
No way.

I have a better shot at playing center for the Lakers than the Hornets have of letting Paul walk for a trade exception

Don't see how we have much choice. I don't see us trading him in the middle of this season or the next. Not when you've already unloaded the fan favorite. Not when you've done everything to get your team playoff ready. All the signals are we're going forward with CP3 in our long term plans.

And again, you think our fans would be, "YAY! We traded the best point guard in the league! Let's buy season tickets so we can watch friggin' 2nd rate players and a likely lottery season!"

Not to mention, we've got the CBA looming. Could change EVERYTHING.

I never said trade Paul. My post was in response to someone saying that West couldn't be traded due to the threat of Paul leaving.

We won't be getting anyone that instantly makes us better.

I'd rather at least be solid in the short-term and fall off than suck now and indefinitely.

If the best and most popular player is leaving next year trading our second best and second most popular player makes not only worse in the long term but this season is basically over and you can kiss almost every current season ticket holder (renewals are due next week) good bye.

Thats the truth.

And im not for trading him this season

But unless and until the CBA changes everything or Paul signs an extension, there is absolutely no way possible they let him walk for nothing. No way.

As for attendance, imagine what its going to be if we're Cleveland in 2 years. I wouldve been more than happy to get what Denver and Utah got back. Those teams still have solid futures and and solid assets. Thats way more sellable to fans than a starting lineup of Jack,Green,Ariza,Jason Smith and Emeka Okafor

Harris,Favors, and couple of lottery picks is pretty nice. Felton, Chandler, Gallinari, Mozgov, and picks is also pretty good compared to the trash we'd be left with by letting him walk. And Utah got that deal without any guarantee that Willams is even gonna be there longterm

I think what's happened here is I've confused what a sign and trade actually is.

Time to hit up wiki.

I would possibly be interested in giving up West for Al Jefferson or Josh Smith.

When you mentioned a sign and trade in the 2012 offseason i figured you meant the Bosh or Lebron model.

Because people are lazy and make assumptions based on headlines rather than taking the time to figure something out. Demps did a ticket holder dinner last night or maybe it was the night before. Here's a good break down of the West situation.

HAHA that article came out after I started this thread man and I'm sorry I wasn't one of those 50 season ticket holders at the metting. You act like I did zero research on this. WWL is a pretty reliable source when it comes to local sports my man.

The rumors are that we're willing to give him something like 4/$40 which is a fair number for all sides

4 years may be fair, but 10 mil a year is not a fair number to West.

Some players he should make more money than at his postion. (There are more I am sure and compare the other PF in the league who have been in it for at least 5 years and the price should be closer to 13 mil.)

Josh Smith: 11.7 mil
Antawn Jamison: 13.3
Kenyon Martin: 16.5
David Lee: 10.8
Troy Murphy: 11.9
Nick Collison: 13.2
Elton Brand: 16
Marcus Camby: 11.7
Rashard Lewis: 19.5

A lot of horrible contracts in that list. I think Demps wants to pay him what he is actually worth. One of the huge problems with the current NBA is horrible contracts. I think $12-13 million/year average is a more legit offer.

No, the people you researched did zero research was my point. It's amazing how much garbage gets regurgitated by professional journalists.
