I don't see it. Unless you want Ferry as your GM or to see if Erman is head coaching material what's the point? Gentry is driving the tank pretty well and at this point the only positive that might come out of this season besides a regime change is a high draft pick. Loomis may not be a basketball guy, but he knows enough that he can direct Demps to clean things up for the next guy. The tricky question is what to do with Holiday. Is he someone the next guy would like to keep, or is he better used to pick up assets or dump contracts? Because you can't wait for the next guy to take over if you need to trade him.

I don't want Dell Demps making the decisions with regards to our future

At least I'll know that Tom Benson, or whoever it is that makes these decisions for him nowadays, cares about this team

You can spend an entire season throughly reviewing replacements and having long thoughout interviews for a GM. It would allow a new GM and Coach to get adjusted in a throw away season rather than wasting a year to install their staff and methods. Coaches are allowed to evaluate their current talent and input their system to see who and what works. It makes so much more sense to make changes now in a throw away season rather than waste another year.

So who makes that decision? They brought in some high quality people when Demps first came but really haven't done a good job of replacing them as they moved on. Would Ferry step in on an interim basis? For someone that wants to get back into GMing, would a part time gig look good on his resume or would people wonder why the Pels didn't keep him?

you clean house now so that your fan base has just the slightest glimmer of hope that change is coming. I've followed this team so closely from day 1 since they moved here, and I'm at the point now to where I'm not even mad with the team, I just don't give a shite and thats the worst thing of all. I know I'm not alone in that regard at all either. With these 2 guys at the helm, who in their right mind would renew their tickets.

Firing them now might keep your fanbase somewhat interested.

The way I see it: we draft one of the greatest talents to ever grace the league, then instead of building anything worthwhile, we have actually regressed to the point where we get shite on at home by the Sixers while shooting like 30%.

Why not fire everybody right now? Seems like perfect timing. We need to purge the organization from top to bottom, might as well get started IMO

Not unless the GM replacement is Ferry, which I think, is highly possible. What coach are you hiring right now? New coaches don't like coming mid season because who they can bring on as their staff is limited. I'm not saying they should wait until the 2nd week of May or whenever it is that the Saints draft picks will be signed, but I just don't see the upside of moving now unless the replacement is Ferry.

You and me don't matter. Maybe I should bump it for the daycrew, but a dirty little secret that nobody is talking about is that the new national TV deal really reduced the importance of local fan support. LINK /

Why do we even need Alvin Gentry right now? Just to have him? To fire him at a later time?

Fans are absolutely done. Give fans something to talk about.

You're thinking like a fan, but fans aren't in charge of this decision. What is going to make Mickey Loomis take time out of his busy day across campus to deal with the Pelicans? If he fires somebody he has to find other people to do that work. What benefit does Loomis get out of an interim GM or HC? I think part of why Demps has lasted this long is he has a good relationship with Loomis. So I don't see why Loomis would think an assistant in a FO that has lost a lot of talent over the past several years would be better at following his instructions than Demps.

The best choice is probably to not allow Dell Demps to give up any picks and tell him he's free to trade anyone not named Davis for draft picks and expiring contracts only.

Don't look any further than the 7 footer with the weight of the team on his shoulders. At least show him you're going to try to fix the ship by acknowledging you gave him a damn leaky rowboat.

AD can make things happen for sure, and he might even get to hand pick the next coach/GM. But Demps/Gentry are not getting fired today simply because fans are fuming.

Firing Derps now lets the new GM get to work on trades this year to set up future offseasons and keeps Derps from doing anything else retarded. I don't want Derps wasting any more assets or cap.

I just can't agree with this. Loomis has fricked up the Saints just as bad as Derps has fricked up the Pels.

Individually no, but we make up the fan base, and a tired, beat down fan base hurts the bottom line of the team AND the league.

I just don't get it. Gentry was such a horrible hire from the beginning. People always say how bad it is to hire a retread coach and this guys has been coaching 25+ years and has a losing record with that.

The people defending him basically argued that he's always had to work with shite rosters. That ignored the fact that the guy who was just fired brought a shite roster to the playoffs. So, it's not like he was being handed the keys to the Warriors.
