Rivers was improving idgaf what yall say about him and Russ never even got a chance.

Is that you Jermiah?

Rivers has statistically been the worst player (who gets at least 15 mpg) in the NBA over the past 27 games.

Cap question: Does this trade create a Trade Exception for us?

No. You have to send out more than you take back to get a trade exception. We are sending out more salary than we are bringing back.

The part that is confusing to me is if Salmons/Russ fetch us a 2nd rd pick and Pondexter, and Rivers nets a 2nd from the Clippers, why not do the original deal and ship Rivers out separately? Is Dell really expecting Salmons to be an easily moved piece later on? Wouldn't 2 2nds be easier to move than Salmons + 2nd or am I missing something in regard to the cap?

To do those kinds of things, you need to be able to trade someone intoxap space or a trade exception and a roster spot. The Clippers have trade exceptions, but not one big enough for Rivers and they cannot be combined.

Trade exceptions, also, are not automatically created. There are separate rules for simultaneous trades. Sending more out than you get back is part of it, but they must be actively sought.

"Yea I don't see where we got "ripped off". AR was worthless to this team. We turned him into a possible contributor and a 2nd round pick. Sounds good to me."

I am not enthused over the trade but this is pretty much where I come down. There is a tendency to mistake a thing's current value with what you paid for it. Although Rivers was the 10th pick in the draft, his current value is "reasonably athletic marginal NBA player who may still have some upside." you don't get Jeff Green for that.
