One good half-season and a 25% raise? Ahhh the NBA

Who are the possible replacements available at that money?

Bird Rights place a 150% hold on a teams cap when they have a free agent to resign. So a 50% raise is what's "expected" under the current rules.

Relax.

VOR's prediction will be proved correct. IF the lease and ownership deal is done, West and CP3 will remain Hornets. You'll see.

I have a good answer to this situation that I read off of a link posted on here yesterday from a season-ticket holder that went to a Q&A session with Dell Demps before the Spurs slaughtering. This is from the article he posted:

quote:

What are your plans in regards to David West's expiring contract? Are there contract extension negotiations taking place, and do you believe he will remain a Hornet?

Out of everything that Demps was asked, this is the only question that he seemed to step around a little bit. He told us that he has spoken numerous times with West and has made it clear that he "wants him to retire a Hornet, have his jersey hanging in the New Orleans Arena, have him receive standing ovations whenever he returns to a game, and have his family able to call for free tickets whenever they want." That being said, Dell enlightened us with a key piece of information regarding NBA extensions - players can only be extended based on the final year of their contracts. Therefore, although West's contract was front-loaded and he averaged more money throughout the duration of the contract than he is making this season, an extension must be based off of his salary this year. As a result, the chances of an extension before the end of this season are slim, but Demps hopes to negotiate a new contract with him after the season and before any other team has a chance at him.

He had many more questions pertaining to the hornet's future addressed as well that I found to be interesting. It was in a post labelled "Q&A Session with ... "

DWest is considerably underpaid this season due to his contract being front-loaded. And if I remember correctly (don't feel like looking it up), DWest was getting just under 10 million in the first season of his new contract. So as long as the new CBA doesn't drastically change (big if) then I wouldn't mind signing DWest to a 4 year deal and front load it again giving him a 10 million or so average.

I wouldn't believe anything Woj-whatever says about the Hornets.

Bower fed that guy insider info for years, He has bashed the team repeatedly since Bower was canned and he lost his access.
