Ty Lawson signed with the Kings today. Why is this relevant to the Pels, you ask? Well, that's because according to Woj he was expected to meet with the Pels early this week. Apparently we had "interest".

I have to say that this wouldn't make much sense with who we've already acquired. If this is, in fact, true, then I'd say we definitely dodged a bullet. Lawson seems to be a guy I don't want in the clubhouse.

And LOL at Sacramento - that team should have its own reality series for the amount of dysfunction that will ensue in that locker room.

We also were recently connected to a foreign guard that ended up with the Spurs IIRC. It does make you wonder if we have a Tyreke trade ready to go. Tyreke + Ajinca for Monroe seems like the most likely ready to go trade we'd have.

Clearly I missed this but what did Lawson do to get the label of locker room cancer?

headscratcher. Why would we want that guy around all of our young players?

He does seem to have too much knucklehead in him for where the team is going, but he was pretty productive in 26 games for Memphis last season. On a vet minimum deal you should be able to control his personality or cut him a la Stephen Jackson and the Spurs a few years ago. Especially if they plan on moving Tyreke, they need another guy that can create his own shot.

Lance Stephenson is interesting...people forget how good of a defender that guy used to be...if he can somehow recreate some of the magic he had in Indiana and keep his head on straight I'd be OK with it. He's got playoff experience which is invaluable with this current roster.

Beaver, Lawson was busted for his use of marijuana...I'm sure other players use it, so I can't comment too much on it, but he was considered a knucklehead of sorts in Denver which is why they let him go. He just didn't catch on in Houston, but he did seem pseudo-productive with the Pacers last year.

I don't know about weed. But Lawson has a huge drinking problem and has been arrested a few times for duis (I think 4 times). He has also lost a step. He used to be a speed demon and has seemed to slow down a lot. Without that step he isn't anywhere near as good as he was. I don't know if that is due to age, drinking or being out of shape. But I don't think he'll ever be the same player again..

Pelicans have been pretty aggressive in trying to land one of the higher level free agent guards left. Looking for depth.

I suppose it wouldn't be crazy to cut Gee. He still gets paid so you didn't break a promise to him, but if they want to add someone that means someone else is getting subtracted.

I've seen the idea of cutting Tyreke get floated but that's bad math. If he can play you should be able to trade him. If he can't play you start racking up insurance money. Cutting or stretching Tyreke just doesn't add up.
