If I remember right, I was looking at how Asik was doing. When I saw that the Pelicans' defense was no better than last year, I made the thread to see if anybody knew why their drtg wasn't good since y'all watch more Pelicans games than I do.
With Holiday, AD, Asik, and a defensive head coach, I was surprised where they were ranked defensively.

The Starters brought up the exact same question on their podcast because it didn't make sense to them either.
It doesn't make sense when you have AD, Asik, and Holiday.

The defensive stuff isn't. The lack of vets is. The impetus for Evans, Holiday, Asik was to skip the youth phase- they've had their welcome to the NBA moments already. Saying they are now too young or inexperienced to be good enough doesn't sit well with me, for all that is worth.
If the message is now "Wait a couple of years for the guys to get it" these moves look worse and worse. If you're going to wait any way, might as well do it with 2 top 10 picks and cap space.

Is the group good enough to replicate the success level he's had in Chicago, I'm not as sure
Thibs played Boozer and DJ Augustin big minutes last year, without Deng for several months, and they were still good. I think he'd be fine in NO.
Demps did Monty no favors with the roster. But with two bigs like Asik/Davis it should be near top 10 regardless.
Obviously, still time to turn it around. But I increasingly think that only happens with a new coach.
