I mean am I the only one with the memory of jizz everywhere little cutesy shite y'all did on the board for a while, with "In Demps We Trust" memes everywhere, and quotes about Monty from coaches all over the place, and so forth.
Yea I exaggerated with the "best coach/GM" stuff but it's not terribly far off.
I mean this board said we were going to be a playoff team this year before the season.
Expectations were by some pretty laughably high for a team with a below average coach and very little real talent, and for the longest time it was an unthinkable sin to speak bad about anything regarding this team.
I appreciate that other opinions are being voiced a little more often now, that's all I'm saying.
And y'all should too, it's what makes boards like this interesting.

And I don't think anyone, including the "Monty apologists" think the same way of him now that we did at the beginning of the year. I know that I don't.
But again, if EG and AD are healthy all year, we'd be a completely different team right now

Stalker, too? Or do you just love me?
At least you know something about me is real, and I'm not just putting on a show.

my point in all this is you are gonna have optimistic fans and pessimistic fans, unrealistic fans, uneducated fans, but please bring something to the table besides ONLY being negative
i remember when everyone was pumped about Demps and Monty how they made a great pair etc and people were excited to a point to where "In Demps We Trust" was making its way around the board and many were optimistic I think thats part of being a fan...you are a tad unrealistic
the irritation is when the same thing is posted constantly with no new insight or opinion especially with someone being negative even further when nothing will change for a few months
support your team voice your opinion but bashing gets old and it only pisses people off
example I got really pissed at EG through the offseason but you have to remember he's a Hornet whether you like it or not you got to support him
enjoy the season, enjoy watching basketball, enjoy giving each other shite on this board, dont bash just to bash...my 2 cents

I appreciate fact-based analysis and well-considered, evolving opinions about the team, pro or con, far more than most of what I read here.
I'd like to read more of the former, actually.
There's a time and place for fun and getting pumped about the team, but having that displace actual thought about actual facts is to be avoided.
I fail to see how anyone is not pleasantly surprised by this season as a whole. Parts of it are very upsetting, of course.

I will admit that I expected more back in, say, early October. Of course, I expected a healthy Gordon. I did think we'd have a better record at this point.

Vasquez has been the best story, and although he didn't get as many minutes as he maybe should have, Davis hasn't disappointed, Anderson has been solid (although not too great lately) and Lopez has been better than expected.
The Gordon thing is really a black cloud over the franchise right now. I've said it before, this franchise is going to regret that signing for a long time. Should have just let him walk.
That and Rivers being as bad as he has been, and then getting hurt right as he seemed to be getting "it".
And then the worst part is Monty is really just not showing me much anymore. Bad sets, bad defense, the team as a whole just not seeming to play with as much fire.
All in all, the bad has begun to outweigh the good though, and that's very disappointing to me as a fan.

I expected Gordon to miss more time than he did, Davis less. I always assume a second-level player gets injured (Aminu, Smith, GV, Lopez) since it's more likely to happen to one of them than a star just because there are more of them. Still, the team is really doing some good stuff. The defense is terrible largely due to guards penetrating, and that will get fixed. The offensive improvements have far out-paced by expectations.

But I just really don't like Gordon as a player or more importantly, as a human being
And I don't see that changing anytime soon, and supporting him is something I'm going to have a pretty hard time doing.

I agree with this

I wasn't sure what to thing when we matched his offer. Right now, it looks like we made a mistake. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not very confident. I certainly wouldn't mind a trade, but I have a hard time seeing someone trade for him with his injuries

I may be one of the few on here that is confident that Rivers will end up being a good player. Certainly he had a rough start, but he started figuring out what he did well as a player and was starting to show signs of a very solid improvement. I was pretty bummed when he got hurt

This is one of the things that confuses me. Last year we seemed to be much more competitive even though we were a worse team, and I think its because we lost solid leaders in Jack and Landry. Monty needs to do a better job of motivating players and getting someone to step up as a team leader. He also needs to improve his 4th quarter coaching, along with the offensive sets and perimeter defense
When you include all of that along with our lack of depth, this season hasn't been horrible. I think that we just had such unrealistic expectations at the beginning of the year that this season seems so bad.
People can say what they want about our future with Monty and Gordon, but I'm still optimistic about our future

that's pretty rough. you're gonna bitch at me for starting a hypothetical thread about getting rid of 4 teams and then you turn around and put Eric Gordon on the same tier as Hitler. for shame.
