The top starting 5s in the league - Where do our Pelicans rank?

All right, Sons, let’s look forward a little bit. When healthy, the Pels boast an impressive starting 5
CJ McCollum
Herb Jones
Brandon Ingram
Zion Williamson
Jonas Valanciunas
So here’s the question, where do we rank? There are some really impressive starting 5s in the league.
A few most people would note would be the Warriors:
Curry
Thompson
Poole
Green
Looney
The Nets:
Kyrie
KD
Seth Curry
Drummond
Simmons
The 76ers:
Embiid
Harden
Maxey
Thybulle
Harris
The Suns:
Booker
Paul
Ayton
Bridges
Crowder
The Bucks:
Giannis
Middleton
Allen
Lopez
Holiday
The Heat:
Butler
Adebayo
Robinson
Tucker
Lowry
And the Grizzlies:
Morant
Jackson Jr
Adams
Bane
Brooks
So, where do our Pelicans rank? I almost feel like I’m taking crazy pills saying this as a Pelicans fan, but I think we’re in the top 5, and that’s wild
CJ McCollum

It is wild but maybe lower the expectations of including a player that has not been on the court in over a year, has ongoing weight problems with chronic injuries.

I mean that’s why I gave the caviat of complete health in all cases. This assumes every starting 5 in the league is completely healthy. And it’s not “expectations”, after all basketball isn’t just starting 5s. I’m just comparing the overall levels of the respective starting 5s

It’s a good one for sure but I don’t think it belongs in this conversation

Of these, when totally healthy, this is how I'd rank them.
Nets
Bucks
Sixers
Warriors
Suns
Pelicans
Heat
CJ > Lowry
Herb < Butler
BI > Robinson
Zion > Tucker
Jonas < Bam
Griz
CJ < Morant
Herb < Brooks
BI > Bane
Zion > JJJ
Jonas > Adams
ETA: I'd add Celtics healthy starting 5 and clippers starting 5, when healthy, in the same range as the Pels
Celtics
Smart
Brown
Tatum
Horford
Williams
Nets
Bucks
Sixers
Warriors
Suns
Pelicans
Heat
CJ > Lowry
Herb < Butler
BI > Robinson
Zion > Tucker
Jonas < Bam
Griz
CJ < Morant
Herb < Brooks
BI > Bane
Zion > JJJ
Jonas > Adams

It's hard to really rank tbh.
What this thread/question does show to me though is there really is more parity in the league than at any time I can remember.
When healthy, I can make a decent case for 10ish teams that I could see winning a title, in no particular order:
Nets
Clippers
Celtics
Suns
Heat
Sixers
Bucks
Warriors
Pelicans
Nuggets

I’d say the starting 5 , when healthy , has to be in the top half of the league , wouldn’t y’all say?

Lets actually get that lineup on the floor before we start ranking it.

Booker update is saying out for games3-4 . They make it seem like it’s new info

I’ve always thought that when you actually look at every teams starting 5 on paper, you realize how many great players are in the league.
Every team has 3 or 4 starters that you can say are good players

Yep, I do the same any time I try and qualify whether X player is top 25/15/10 etc.
You start to realize there's a lot of really great players and almost always have adjust your initial hunch down some spots.
Was just doing it last night wondering, is BI top 15 at this point, top 20?

Don’t even need to include Zion.
The 5 man of Jonas Herb BI CJ and Hayes had the 2nd highest offensive rating in the league the last two months of the year, only behind Dallas’s 5 man of Luka, Brunson, DFS, Powell and Bullock

Without Zion they are probably around 15-20 in the nba , more offensively though. Probably worse on d

Absolutely agreed. This is all hypothetical. My main point wasn’t to claim we will be a top 5 team or anything like that, but to kind of shed light on how we have gone from discussing tanking to even being in this kind of conversation

When this team is Healthy post CJ they are what 11-3 now. That is elite. What we need are a couple of starting caliber players that don't mind coming off the bench to contend for rings, that is the next step in the process.

So the clippers roster with 2 top 10 players in the NBA wouldn’t be in conversation for best starting 5?

1. I don’t personally rate Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris, or Zubac that highly
2. I don’t have Paul George in my top 10. He’s definitely an amazing player but I definitely don’t rate him top 10.
To me that starting 5 is very flawed and very inconsistent. I’d probably have it in the 10-15 range for starting 5s, which is what I meant by not in the conversation

This Poole kid for the Warriors....man. The LAST thing they needed was another Splash Brother. Sheesh the kid can score. And they got him at the end of the 1st round!
