Hardaway has recently been ATLs best wing

I guess this came out around the time they took Millsap off the market, so obviously things could change in that time span, but Zach Lowe said they were looking to move him for 2nds. I'm guessing they don't or perhaps didn't see him as someone they wanted to pay when they have all the young wings they already have?

Pretty much. They did up the trade rules from 150% for non tax payers to 175%. So in theory they could send out just $10 million and get Fournier back, but I don't think they'll have the contracts or assets to make that work. For next year Ajinca and QPon only add up to $8.8 million and the team will probably need Frazier. If Demps had another Frazier/Ish in his back pocket throw in Frazier and the 2018 pick for Fournier and you're in business. Otherwise you need to find a way to move Asik.

I think the best way we could go about this is make this kind of move for a Fournier type + extend Jrue this offseason. Extend Boogie and use the MLE next offseason, then when those guys hit their prime and have some experience together, use Asik's $12m non-guaranteed final season to trade for that final solid role player in mid 18/19 or that 19/20 offseason.

I don't see how giving up assets to dump Asik helps us much when it wouldn't give us much more than the MLE.

I don't know why they would trade him for 2nd's, but they said they would a while back.

I would rather get Hollis Thompson here and see if he can be our Tim Hardaway Jr.

We keep seeing these 6'6" skinny guys that stayed in college, weren't drafted high, or at all, fart around in the D-League for a few years or they are buried on a bench the first 3 years of their career, then finally get a chance and become contributors, like Hardaway, Bazemore, and Garrett Temple, even James Ennis.

That does make some sense and Asik would be a good practice player for Cousins to go against every day. That would suck for Asik though. His days go from screwing around with Ajinca, they look like best buds having a good time in the background of every pre game warmup shot these days, to getting beaten up by Cousins every day in practice.

for $12M dollars a year, i'll gladly throw my 260lb arse at Cousins every day in practice, and watch from the sidelines. I'm sure I could piss him off every day. I would need some go go gadget arms though to be somewhat effective.

One question is: Do we even want to clear out cap space?

If we do we lose the MLE (9mill) and we may not even be able to clear out enough for losing the MLE to make sense.

Maybe the better move is using assets to replace Ajinca and Asik's contracts with more useful players on similar contracts and then still being able to use the MLE and TPEs.

What we've talked about in this thread makes me think we may not. Get a low end guy to replace Frazier so you can package him with Ajinca/QPon and our 2018 pick for a starting caliber wing, then use the MLE on either a backup PG or big. The only way burning assets to clear cap space makes more sense than trading and using the MLE is if you could get someone like Hayward/CP3, which at this point is still a pipe dream.

Not surprising, he wrote himself a big payday into the CBA. That also probably takes Reddick off the market unless he just wants to leave.

I had read something recently that if LAC resign CP3 and Griffin to the max, they would give Reddick all the power b/c of their cap situation and if they wanted to keep him, and if he wanted to be a dick, he could demand a lot more than he's worth if they want to keep him.
Sounded like the article was saying if they keep them both, they likely wont' keep Reddick, unless he wants to be nice, which he may.
