So are the Clippers retarded or just don't have enough/right assets for us?

They should be going all in. Put the smack down on the Lakers and have a legit shot at winning something next year with AD. Could draw Kawhi with AD on roster.

Last word was that both the Clippers and Nets were unable to gain traction, meaning their assets weren’t enough and it didn’t look like they were able to acquire more to make a better bid.

I think they are, but don't have the right mix of assets to satisfy Griffin.

Nah, they were originally not going to part with Shai in a trade (or that’s what they want other teams to think). I’ve heard Shai is back on the table and that griff and the pels value Shai, shamet and the 2021 Miami pick a lot. Gallo on an expiring has value as well. I think a big thing is that the clippers don’t want to give up both Shai and Shamet. Which might be a deal breaker.

I get it (and agree), but Griffin's need for "an all star" is why I assume they don't have the goods. SGA is a great piece, and the futures might work out, but I just don't think they have what makes the deal "pop" with the fanbase. Sure, everyone is pumped up to get Zion and a new era is approaching, but the mob is fickle. If we get a bunch of dudes the average fan has never heard of for Anthony fuggin Davis, casuals (who really pay the bills) will be pissed.

Griffin wants a big name to headline the deal to avoid that. He is not stupid.

Yeah griffin cares about the fan base but I don’t think any good executive will let the fan base dictate a trade. They’re professionals at this, it’s what they’re paid to do. Not the fans. If the front office values certain assets more than ones the fans like, it’s for good reason. I’ll put my faith in griffin and this new FO.

Griffin isn't dumb. He knows Shamet and SGA are cost controlled. That Miami pick has value. Galo is expiring, so is Trez. Also, Lou Williams is the league's best 6th man and is on an unbelievable deal for the next two years. That's all incredible value.

The problem with LAC is we would strip them of their entire roster. I would need everything.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Landry Shamet
Jerome Robinson
Ivica Zubac
Montrezl Harrell
Danilo Gallinari

I guess if they could get AD and then Kawhi, it's worth it.

Clippers are listed as a destination for some of the top free agents.

Unlike the Lakers they can keep their youth which made the playoffs and try to get Kawhi and Butler and be a top contender next year.

It would be retarded to trade everyone for AD considering it has been proven he can't carry a team.

Lou Williams should be included in any deal with the clippers

SGA looks like a 6’6 long time starting Pg in this league. Great match with Zion for a decade.

Shamet played like the next JJ Reddick. Born to shoot a basketball. It’s a tough spot for the Clippers, as this could be their starting back court for a long time.

That being said, AD would extend with them. You make the deal ten times out of ten. If the roles were reversed, and AD was signed for the next four years, we would laugh at them for offering those guys and thinking they could get a signed AD. It’s a good deal both ways here.

Um, they can do both. Trade for AD and sign a FA. And in fact it increases the odds of that happening.

This was a fringe playoff team that lost Tobias Harris and was extremely lucky to have Gallo stay healthy. And they may lose Beverly. Without a trade, my money is on them striking out in FA and not making the playoffs next season.

Yeah, but honestly from what it sounds like, no one is in the lead. They’re obviously waiting for someone to blow them away. I mean why not be patient since they hold all the cards. There are a lot more offers being presented from teams that aren’t lakers/ Celtics. I think we know and hear solely about these for the most part because of AD not wanting to go to the Celtics and Rich Paul and lakers media bs. Also they were the two headliners before the all star break. But there are definitely other teams doing whatever they can to put a package together to get him.

SO we say SGA, Galo, Harrel, one 1st next year, and one of Shamet / Lou.......??

Haha.

Gotcha

Makes a ton of sense and it keeps feeling like he's making the Lakers scramble on a probable fools errand for a star.

After last night he has even more reason to wait

Yeah it would be something along those lines. The only problem is that the free agent market next year is poo. So we’d have to bank on getting some kind of return for gallo before the break. Otherwise the only true assets are Shai and the Miami 2021 pick. That’s why shamet is a huge piece because he’d be an asset for years to come compared to Lou (who yes is on a great deal but is also 32 and will want to get paid in 2 years for his last major contract). If this trade happens it solidifies us taking a few years to build before we really make a push.
