If Cousins wants out heres whatI would try and do:

Part 1:
S&T Demarcus Cousins + Pick 51 + 2020 2nd round pick (unprotected)

for

Otto Porter + Pick 15

Part 2:
Trade Pick 15 + Solomon Hill + Alexis Ajinca

for

John Collins + Kent Bazemore

Starting Lineup:
PG Rajon Rondo
SG Jrue Holiday
SF Otto Porter
PF Anthony Davis
C John Collins

Bench:
PG Frank Jackson
SG Etwaun Moore
SF Kent Bazemore
PF Nikola Mirotic
C Cheick Diallo

Reserves:
G Ian Clark
F Darius Miller
C Emeka Okafor

We are trying to win a championship. I'm not sure if you have seen the last three years of Playoff Toronto.... Derozan and Lowry are trash when it comes to playoffs. Do not want. Bad thread

I'm pretty sure that you can't include anything else with a player that is being traded in a sign and trade.

The best sign and trade for Cousins is probably Cousins for Porter straight up.

But you could do DC for Porter. Then our picks for their pick

I would gladly take DeRozen, but Toronto wouldn't do that with Valaciunas.

I think Washington would be stupid to do it, but i'd be ecstatic if we got Porter for Cousins.
Mirotic is a good defender at the 4, and can suffice in switch situations off picks. You put Jrue and Porter on the two best guards, have Rondo/Moore play the worst of the 3, and that's a pretty stout defensive lineup, that still has lots of offensive fire power.

Cousins for Porter helps both teams, as long as Boogie wants to play the 5

They have to change something and have their $40 million man that they're stuck with to please. Porter for Cousins is the one trade that makes a lot of sense for all 3 sides.

I agree they have to change something, but why are they needing to please Wall? he's not going anywhere anytime soon and they'd laugh in his face if he requested a trade.

How is a Porter for Cousins swap doable?
How closely do the salaries have to match? i would think we are the ones that would need to give up a pick for this to happen.

If they need to be close, then Washington has to include someone else, either Jason Smith or the Morris twin. Smith would be a wash as far as sending them more for him, but if we got Morris i'd imagine we'd need to give them something else in return.

Boogie for Porter is really good for everyone.

Boogie gets to play with a playoff team and a buddy. Washington has to try something different esp after being the 8th seed in a weak East and I'm sure they'd be willing to take a chance on him. And it allows the Pelicans to maintain their current offensive scheme of pace and space while giving us young player that fits fantastically in that. And it finally gives the Pels the SF they've always lacked.

Now I still think Boogie is worth more than just Porter. Even Boogie coming off an achilles injury.

fwiw, I don't want DeRozan. Great player and I think we could make it work but its not an ideal fit next to Jrue since both Jrue and DeRozen are better at driving to the basket as opposed to shooting.

The Tax Apron will be about $127 million. The Wizards current salary commitments are $124 million. Porter + Smith is $31.5. Boogie's max starts at $30.3. That trade reduces Washington's salary by $1 million so they are still under the Apron after. If they don't pay Boogie the full max you might be able to do a straight trade of Porter for Cousins.

They are in a tricky tax situation and don't have a tone of spare players. I doubt they throw in a 1st. You want a few 2nds?

If you have guys like Mirotic and AD helping stretch the floor, having Jrue and Derozan take their guy to the goal and muscling them up with little help defense sounds great to me. I'd have no problem with an offense that leads the league in points in the paint despite having very little post presence. That type of offense is less likely to go cold simply b/c you are forcing the issue. You can take 20 wide open 3's and miss 16 of them. That's very unlikely to happen with Jrue and DeRozan getting in the paint at will.

Why would they throw in the first?
Even if Cousins was healthy, this trade would be pretty even. Given the fact that he might not come back from this, Porter is worth more. I would think we have to give up a first for this........right?

I don't think so. Cousins is a much bigger name and any team trading for him has talked themselves into him returning at a decent level. If Toronto were in position to make a similar trade, like they magically didn't have Val and Anunoby was 4 years older and on a similar contract to Porter, I'd expect them to give up more than just Anunoby for Cousins. And Toronto could afford to throw in a young player or future asset. Washington is asset poor like the Pels though and you can't squeeze blood from a stone, especially if you don't have a bidding war going.

How much do you think Washington would be willing to pay Boogie? Porter makes 26 mil next season.

Well it's also what is Cousins willing to accept.

Do you think Cousins would care if he's getting 4/$105 or 3/$95.
