He just isn't what I expected. This kid oozed confidence at Oklahoma and now he looks like a lost little kid. I know he can make shots, I watched him do it all last year. And believe me, getting to play the last minute of every game and the crowd chanting "buddy buddy buddy" will only make him more discouraged when he misses again. He needs to go dominate the D League for 2-4 weeks, bring him back up, play him and see where is confidence level is. I'm haven't given up on him yet, but he needs to get his shite together.

If Buddy was raw and needed major mechanical development I would say send him.

As is I think he does better where he is. Even if that just means watching from the sidelines and absorbing the NBA game and his future teammates. Playing with them and learning their tendencies in practice.

He's not gonna find his shot or gain confidence by doing what he's doing. Let him go dominate some lesser talent for a few weeks to get his confidence up. He looks afraid to make any moves right now. He looks flat out terrified.

He's better than we had hoped at everything but his shooting. He just needs to focus on getting better at everything else, which he won't learn putting up a bunch of shots on inferior players in the DLeague. Playing defense and attacking the basket will earn him the minutes he needs to get his shot going.

That's what I'm saying. He looks afraid to do anything except shoot 3s, and those are atrocious right now. Looks like Gentry has him on a very short leash. Send him to the d league for a few games where he can do whatever he wants

Any confidence boost gained from the DLeague will dissipate quickly when he gets back to the Pels and faces the same hurdles. He's looked much better attacking the basket than many of us expected, he's putting out a lot of effort on defense too. He just needs to keep focusing on those 2 things which the DLeague won't help him with. I'm expecting Tyreke and another guard to get traded, once that happens he'll get the minutes and hopefully role he needs to find his confidence.

I'd agree if he was 19 and not 23. He was supposedly the most NBA ready prospect out there. Looking like quite the opposite right now.

How is he supposed to look when he is playing so little? Gentry won't even put him on the court when we are up 20 in the 4th quarter. Instead, he is more concerned with padding AD's stats as somehow he feels that makes him look better. When AD or Jrue gets hurt in one of those situations, he will look like the incompetent fool that he is.

I don't wanna be an "I told ya so", but I told ya so.

We were in a no win situation really. He was the only sensible pick left on the board, that didn't require a lot of faith. I had a feeling he wouldn't translate, but I am still hopeful that I'm wrong.

Just came in to say I was right. He had a outlier shooting year. He doesn't have the athleticism to get to the lane. He is just a scorer, he brings nothing else too the game. They why I liked Murray over him. He was near the same level of Buddy while only being 18. Its funny the 18 year old is more NBA ready than the 23 year old.

You also said Luwawu would become the next Kawhi...if you say 10 things and wrong about 9, that 1 doesn't mean much.

Everything you're saying is the exact opposite of what is happening.
He is a better rebounder and facilitator that everyone expected. he's a worse shooter than everyone expected.

He had an 'outlier' shooting season, but his stroke and ability to hit free throws says he has good enough fundamentals to get there

Murray is having an impressive month: 42.1/43.5/82.8 shooting, but he also plays 24 minutes a game while being left out on the court when he gets rolling.

Hield on the other hand is shooting 37.4/26.5/90.0, but gets 16 minutes a game. When he plays well, uncle Al pulls him after 9 minutes and he never sees the court again or goes in near the end of the 4th quarter in obvious wins.

Two vastly different situations to be in, but still way too early to call one a boom or bust.

First, you don't know that you were right. We're not even a quarter of the way into his first season. Plus, you are crippled, as usual, by your perception bias.

If you do turn out right, congrats on the nut, 504BlindSquirrel.
