Playing without Buddy

An underdiscussed source of improvement our chances at a playoff run is the addition by subtraction of getting Buddy off the court.
In games when he has played less than 10 minutes, we are 4-1. His RPM is 442 out of 450, and only fellow rookie Brandon Ingram has played as many minutes out of the 8 players with a worse RPM.
I wasn't opposed to him eating up 20 minutes as a glorified tank. But now that we look towards a playoff run, there is a lot to be optimistic about.
His -4.48 RPM at 20.3 minutes accounts for over 2 points per game that we just improved without even accounting for how much better Cousins is than average or how much better AD is playing PF instead of point-center or whatever the hell he was playing when we went small.

Etwaun is a much better defender at this point.
I'm concerned about Frazier taking big minutes, because he is one of the worst defenders I've seen.

His +/- figures for the season were by far the worst on the team last week when I checked it. He was at -273 on the season. The next-worst was at -64.

And he's like 5'8".

If we could move TJ for a combo guard with a pulse that would be huge.

I thought Buddy was okay for a rookie, he showed potential at times. There was a lot of pressure on him, and some in the Pelicans organization acted like he was some sort of savior. That he is not, but he could be a very good player someday. I think the kings overpaid for him.

Agree. But do we trust Asik and/or Ajinca to provide relief minutes for AD and Boogie?

I think you see DMo and cunningham get a lot of minutes first. Maybe even the mythical Diallo.

Good point. I should've thought of that.

buddy hield was a negative on the court no matter how you choose to frame or discuss it. That's not surprising for a rookie but it is what it is. We all liked him and wanted to watch him play because the only way he was getting better was to play
I feel terrible for him personally in the short term and I wish he could have stayed because his teammates loved him and he's really a standout person. Que sera

maybe we'll trade for him back after they realize he's not curry.
maybe.
maybe.

As happy as I am about the trade, I am really sad to see Buddy go. He's an awesome human being and a guy you truly want to see succeed. I hope he tears it up in Sacto.

It was a huge shock to everyone. If the kings accept any other offer Buddy is likely staying here for years to come. I like Buddy and wish he didn't have to leave but for a chance at cousins, you have to pull the trigger and its really a no brainer.
