Through 67 games. 2010-11 New Orleans Hornets, 38-29 2014-15 Pelicans, 37-30

Part of the problem is how stacked the West is this year, in 2011, CP3's last year as a Hornet, they got the 7 seed with 46 wins. But to think that this team is on roughly the same pace as that team that looked like a dark horse contender a few times makes you hopeful for the future.

It's been a successful season, playoffs or not. I'm still uncertain how high the ceiling goes with this core. Davis is a walking cheat code, so it's tough to tell. But I don't know what else people could realistically want given the injuries.

the Spurs lost to the Knicks last night. It happens to every team. We have the 7th best record in the league against teams above .500

So does every team. Every single team has bad losses. I'd love to see how people treated Monty if we beat all of the bad teams and never won a game against arguably better teams.

I love this. The Pels should always beat teams they are "better" than. And they should be able to beat teams they are "worse" than too. So, really, they should never, ever lose a game.

Some of those losses (Sixers, Knicks) are truly bad. Some of the wins (Hawks, last OKC game, Cleveland) are truly great. shite happens. This isn't a mathematical equation. Everyone gets paid to try to win every night.

Yep. That stretch will be tough to swallow if we miss the playoffs by a game, though. But I completely agree, we've had some huge wins.

Forget those bad losses, the Asik tip in on NYE will be the toughest to stomach if we miss out by a game.

will go into massive catatonic depression if that game is the deciding factor for playoffs

I don't care that we are losing to bad teams. I care about why we are losing to bad teams. A lot of these teams are using unconventional, helter-skelter lineups, and Monty frequently plays into their hands. The good teams just line up and say "your best 5 vs my best 5, let's go".

I just don't understand what Monty's true goal or direction for this team is. It seems to change from game to game. I'd just like a little more identity and consistency. Injuries have hampered this ability to some degree, and I understand that. But can any of us answer the question of whether Asik will play down the stretch tomorrow night, even though it seems the obvious answer should be "yes"?

We are frequently matching up with lineups that don't normally play together to match their personnel. It's a fundamental flaw. Why would you not want to be the coach dictating which players you want them to match up against?

It would nice if Monty would just throw out a line up of Ajinca, Asik, Davis, Tyreke & Eric and have the other coach game plan for him. Like you said, why are we the ones always matching up to the other team... I think Monty is just too passive to be a great coach he lacks the fire to be great.

Last night we needed Babbitt in there for some 2nd quarter shooting and it just didn't happen.

We started out the season 11-1 and later had a 10 game win streak that included back to back prison rapings of the Hawks and Spurs.

And we won, so we clearly didn't need him in there.

I would agree with that 100%.

I don't think it's dishonest to be pleased with the overall result of this season, but also still have serious questions about the ultimate direction of the team. From game day strategy to long term roster construction, improvements have been made, but I think there are still plenty of things to work on.
