that screen was set a long time before that. tyreke should have known that and switched

It wasn't Tyreke's fault at all.

Yup. It's Davis. Looked like he fell asleep a bit there and I'm not too sure chasing Frankensova around the screen was the best move there. Ilyasova has been around for a while and has a decent 3PT shot. A pin down for him shouldn't have caught anyone by surprise.

It was a nice play from Kidd. It's interesting, many of us killed Monty for no Asik last game during crunch time. In this situation, with a much shorter clock and basically a catch/shoot play, you'll see many coaches go small to switch everything. I don't think the Pels have the length to make it work even here, but just such weird strategy from Monty. Maybe it's as simple as they have Pachulia in, therefore I need Asik in?

ETA- Another thing that worries me a bit- Davis's minutes load. I know there was a double OT game in there, but he's averaging 40.5 MPG since coming back. That's 7 games in about 2 weeks. The telecast made it sound like he's still dinged up too. I get that they're thin and that they're pushing for the playoffs, but it ain't worth the injury risk to a tired Davis IMO. They need to try to steal some more rest for him.

Tyreke really had nothing to do with it. He fought over the first screen to stay with his man. The switch would have been Asik/Davis.

As for having Asik in, it was a 1-point game. They could have rolled off of a pick and went for a layup to win it. That's why Asik is in, to protect the rim.

The biggest issue on that play, and the whole last 2 minutes really, was that Pachulia was throwing some of the most blatant moving screens you'll see, but our guys weren't flopping, so the refs didn't call it. A couple of plays earlier, he basically steamrolled Gordon to free up a shooter. Luckily they missed, but Gordon was all over one of the refs about it. The fact that they let Pachulia do it again is on the refs. Luckily, again, they missed. Ball don't lie.

Hopefully Anderson will be back for the home game vs. the Rockets next week. With Ajinca's play that should get AD some more rest.

Which is why some teams go small there. Harder for bigs to fight through screens. But the play was designed nicely- Asik was helping on the earlier screens Pachulia set for Bayless and Antetokounmpo. It is likely impossible for Asik to help then recover for a switch onto Ilyasova

I don't think it was a bad decision to keep Asik in. Just weird that Monty didn't put him in v Denver for a longer possession, but did here.

Yeah. The one on Davis was pretty bad. He certainly went to the KG School of Moving Screens. I still think Davis could have done better, but Pachulia did a good job on pass protection.

ETA- For reading comprehension derp

The one on Davis was like a right tackle in pass protection. The one on Gordon was more like a pulling guard on a run play.

the thing that pisses me off the most. they want to lessen flopping but you basically have to in order to get a call now.
