I think the DPE should be decreased from 3 players to two, if anything. I do agree that if/when the league opens up two more roster spots per team that'll help some of this madness. Still though, the quality of player that'll fit that role will either be end of the end of the bench (I said that right) or guys that need years of development before making any sort of lasting impact on a NBA Roster.
For the DPE too...it should be retroactive to the previous season, so if you have two + guys out with injuries for a prolonged period to start the season you shouldn't have to wait three weeks or whatever it is.

it's been bothering me too and while i agree with MM that there's no relief mechanism now, there should be one going forward

Yeah, I am frustrated by it, but ANY situation that really only effects 1 or 2 out of 30 teams won't be a concern for everyone. I am sure there is something that one fan base in the league is complaining about that is effecting only them right now that none of us are even thinking or caring about. Heck, look at the arguments against banning Hack-A-Shaq. One of the arguments is: It only effects 5 or 6 players/teams. This issue only effects one. Nobody cares except us.

one simple thing they could do...
if a team is below the cap, they should be able to sign more than 15 players. creates jobs and incentivizes a little advance planning.
