I thought Griff said he wasn’t pleased with the clutch situations.

The problem tonight wasn't in the clutch so much as the first nine minutes of the 4th when we scored a total of 4 points.

How many times do we have to get reports of players and coaches being disappointed in Zion before we realize that he just doesn't give a shite?

Again Coach K got through to this guy. Never heard that shite when he was at Duke. Im not taking blame off Zion- but to say its all him is not understanding that it takes an organization and a coach to get best out of your superstars. Willie coddles our stars- hes not that guy.

This team is 17-14 against teams .500 or better, but sure Willie a “terrible coach”. Yall are something else.
Well, we also have the 17th best record vs teams under .500

Never said it's all on him.

But a lot of it is.

He is not the messiah we were promised and regardless of the coach, his lack of progression has handcuffed this franchise.

Coach K is special. Firing Willie won't get us any closer to having a Coach K type.

Technically true

But there were a shite ton of back to back possessions before the final 5 minutes where it was clear we absolutely needed a bucket, and we just couldn't do it or even have a good possession that lead to a good look.

I would rather watch Herb and Trey take 30 shots a game instead of our stars

Keeping Willie wont either but maybe we get a coach that might get more out of this group than Willie has. In the NBA, much easier to replace the coach then trade away your stars.

Trey doesn't deserve to be in the same sentence as Herb.

That was 5 years and 50 pounds ago.

That Zion is dead and is never coming back

Fact of the matter is, we can't fire Willie because regardless of how aesthetically displeasing some of these Pelicans games are... we are winning enough to be in the top half of the west.

It's already tough enough to convince coaches to come to this shithole of a franchise and a city, good luck telling the next guy to come in and be held to a higher standard than what we're doing right now.

There's a few exit ramps between 1st or 2nd best player of all time and top 30 ish player currently.

After year 2, there isn't a person alive who would have thought a healthy year 5 Zion wouldn't be a top 30 NBA player

You're taking my words too literally. It's a figure of speech my baw.

I expected him to be a top 10 player that we could build a team around that is good enough to make at least a WCF run.

Couple things here. Technically Willie contract was not renewed so he wouldn’t have to be fired. He would just not be retained.

So you don’t want to fire Willie because you think our city is a shithole and no coach wants to take over a talented team with high expectations? Thats a little ridiculous dont you think?

Wizards are giving the Mavs a game tonight -- only down 3 with 3:46 left in the game.

EDIT: If Jordan Poole were not 1-12 from the field tonight with 3 total points, the Wizards would have likely pulled it out.

That’s understandable but certain players progress at different rates. Again im not saying if Zion will get there but keep in mind hes literally played only one other season more than 60 games. Yes thats partly due to his own conditioning but its hard to progess when youre not on the court.

It's ALL due to his conditioning. With his playstyle, he's been at a weight that is conducive to lower body injuries.

I have no emotional connection to Willie, he could be here or gone tomorrow and I wouldn't care one way or the other. My stance has always been that the NBA is and has always been a player driven league, but more importantly, a star driven league and the guy that was drafted to be the clear 1A of this current iteration of the Pels has left A LOT to be desired. Until we figure out the Zion issue, whether that means finally unlocking his potential or moving on from him, the coaching issue is secondary.
