Free agent Alonzo Gee is finalizing one-year deal with New Orleans, league sources tell The Vertical. Sides working to complete in next day.

Has to be another minimum deal obviously, and it puts us at 15 roster spots which is a bit odd. Guess they liked him in the locker room? I don't know.

Hopefully non-guaranteed in case we find someone later that we want to bring in (I.e in camp or free agent).

Yeah he's not good, but a the 15th guy? I guess you can do worse. He's athletic and can guard 2 positions, pretty good defender. If he could shoot he would be a very useful player, but he can't.

Maybe he's a good locker room presence? Good to have for practices? I don't know.

He was reportedly AD's BFF on the team last season.

That is pretty random. But I'll take it. Maybe having Gee and Jones around will help AD.

I just hope his signing does not jeopardize Diallo getting a 3 year deal (bird rights). Would hope it is a minimum deal.

They did the same thing with Darius Miller back in the day. He never deserved to be on the roster, but kept getting chances. Gee has shown more than Miller ever did. If the 15th man on your roster keeps your superstar happy, gives him a guy to hang with on the road, talk to when things go bad, etc. he is WELL worth it

man i know he got more but in hindsight i'd rather they figured out a way to keep ennis rather than gee/jones/whatever

I'm kind of worried about that as well. I'm not a big expert on all of the cap dynamics but it seems pretty difficult at this point.

If any of those guys play more than 200 mins, something bad happened. So, if you are hoping for best case scenario, none of them play regardless and only one of those guys improves the demeanor of your superstar

Gee's deal would have to be for the minimum, they don't have the cap space to do anything else, so that doesn't impact Diallo at all. How much above the minimum Jones gets is the only thing that would possibly push Diallo out of cap space and into the remainder of our room exception. Considering Jones turned down more money to sign with the Pels, I don't think that would be the case either.

Like others have said, not sure why they'd bring him back over a younger guy that has potential, but whatever, doesn't really matter.

If he can hit a corner three at a better rate, he could probably find a place in the league somewhere, b/c he is a decent defender against the bigger 3's in this league.

I personally would have rather given that last spot to a rookie or up and coming D-Leaguer.

It's so random how fast him and AD became best buds. Gee is one smart dude, or maybe is a cool individual. Although I'm indifferent on that since a fan mentioned he was a tool in real life. Maybe these guys are stressed and have alot their plate, but end of the bench guys I would think would be more humble and opened to signing autographs for fans.
