I don't think he was talking about the rebrand but about the ridiculous amount of extremely ignorant chicken littling going on where people seem convinced that if we aren't a contender next year AD will leave next year. We have 5 more seasons before the dance of "get better fast or trade me" starts. Once "get better fast or trade me" starts it usually doesn't end well, but even if it started in 5 years, you still probably wouldn't trade him until the 2020-2021 season. But lets talk about AD leaving because we're having a season so bad that we still might get close to the win total most experts were predicting before we had 3 of our top 6 players miss most of the season because of injury.

So I take you'd have prefered us to move to seattle?

Either that or you're an awful troll

If you could put a value on the Hornets nickname globally I bet it would have been behind only the Heat, the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and the Knicks. Maybe the Nets. Congratulations - now they're with the likes of the Cavs, Pistons, and Bucks.
Where are you getting that from? Since when do the Hornets have a big international following?

Exactly. The chicken littling is ridiculous. If we get to .500 or within a game or two of it, I consider that to be a pretty successful season, especially considering the injuries.

Despite the contracts, rosters are fluid. Davis will continue to get better.

The sky is falling mentality is just not warranted at this time.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's an international Hornets fan. There was a pretty vocal handful of them on Hornets Report/Pelicans Report that did not take the rebrand very well. I haven't seen very many US fans take it that badly, especially with the Hornets brand returning to Charlotte.

I love New Orleans - I'd honestly prefer Sacramento or Milwaukee move to Seattle.

But if you're being honest you have to admit that New Orleans is a below average NBA town (at least so far, and at least compared with the city's love for the Saints).

I'm sure there are international fans like there are for every team.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I never saw the Hornets as being a popular franchise internationally. I mean, why would it be?

Hornets had a HUGE international following. Mostly because of the colors to be honest.

The city was absolutely supportive of the hornets from 2007-10

The last few years have had a negative effect.

You also have to remember the saint have been around for almost 50 years.

This extends to the Monty hate, too.

PG - Brian Roberts, Austin Rivers
SG - Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans
SF - Al Farouq Aminu, Anthony Morrow, Darius Miller
PF - Anthony Davis, Luke Babbit
C - Greg Stiemsma, Alexis Ajinca, Jeff Withey

That team is not in the bottom 10 of the NBA. Terrible job, Monty. Being rational, he hasn't earned an extension or raise, but he doesn't deserve to be fired, either.

Believe it or not they were. I have no idea why. But there were a good bit of them on HR back in the day. No where near the amount for teams like the Lakers, but there were a few for sure.

Our expectations were high going into the season, new brand, new players, great 'on paper' team. We made a marquee trade for an all-star caliber PG that isn't even 25 yet on a considerably good contract.

We questionably (we all know why we did) picked up a 8 figure contract for a '6th' man.

And then injuries and issues struck. First start out with Ryno's fiancee passed away which must have shattered his psyche, then he gets a foot injury, afterwards davis gets injured as well, everyone is healthy and we play above .500 and a playoff caliber looking team, then ryno gets a neck injury that is so bad he can't even shoot a 3, reke's ankle touches the floor and is gimpy all season, EG sits out a game here or there due to swelling, holiday goes out with a leg injury, and our team's starting PG is roberts who belongs in a D-league.

AD becomes a household name, makes a few commercials, gets his first all-star game, puts up numbers that we haven't seen in a decade.

Still have 5 years to prove to him this can be his home. Great teams and big names aren't created overnight.

ETA: I can't respond to him anymore. not sure if troll or just hates life in kansas.

I've grown to dislike Monty this year, but he has not done what I would consider a "terrible" job. But its no coincidence this team has played relatively well while injured. That's what Monty does. He gets scrubs to play better than they should.

But what he hasn't proven he can do is get a decent roster to play well. His teams seem to play worse when their best talent is on the floor.

And his 2nd halfs suck. And he doesn't know when to call a TO. And his rotations are abysmal.

Only Aminu has played more games than Gordon this year. Gordon also leads the team in minutes played.

Just thought those two stats are interesting.

Define a "decent roster." Healthy, which we have not been, this was his best roster he has had, and they played well when healthy, even though they were trying to learn each other's strengths and tendencies. That said, the roster is still not well-constructed.

That tends to happen when you don't have any decent depth (see injuries).

I agree

Good rotations depend on roster flexibility

yeah I noted that in a post a few months ago. That was rather shocking. Oh we lost our starting center as well. We've also brought up 2 Euro players as well to play big minutes (Does lexy count as euro?). This team is scrapping for parts with the injuries.
