Sounds like Pancho to me...but I'd trade up & get Chet...whatever it took.

I think an argument for Ivey could be made at 1.

Banchero is a bigger Tobias Harris. Chet is a project (I see Kristaps potentially with better intangibles). Jabari Smith is basically Jaren Jackson Jr with a smoother looking Jumper.

Ivey projects to be 85-90% Morant and I think we need a guard more than we need a big with Zion hopefully being back next season.

Is the lottery fixed or do you have sources from the future?

No disrespect, but I don’t know if there’s a single thing in here I agree with

Chet won’t develop into a star in the NBA. I see him as a Manute Bol or a Shawn Bradley level at best.

Well you have a 1 in 7 chance of being right. One of those shots in the dark that no one recalls when you’re wrong but you can be all LOOK AT ME if it’s right. Good luck.

I don’t think the Ivey Morant comparison is way off base, but I think he’s more of a Donovan Mitchell comp.

Ivey is more of a Donovan Mitchell/Victor Oladipo type, imo

Jabari Smith then Jaden Ivey are my top targets.

Having another excellent guard in Ivey would definitely have serious perks, not necessary for us to get that but having a high IQ guy who can facilitate and be a threat for lethal scoring weapons….would not turn that down.

Smith I really like because he could eventually be your 5. Love JV and DO NOT want to get rid of him but he IS aging and his 3 point shot fell off hard second half of the season. Smith has potential grow into that role, has age on his side and would be a better spacer and defender next to Zion.

Chet is a beast and could play the 5 with Zion as well, but I favor Smith just because I don’t think offense is what our team needs. Also there’s uncertainty on how good on D he will be.

Edit: agreed after watching him more that Ivey is a combo guard

That’s A OK if you don’t agree man. I don’t bat 1000%.

I was higher on Maxey, Hali, and Bane than almost anyone else and they all panned pretty easily.

I also thought Lamelo was going to be a disaster, so I missed badly on that one. I was a bit wary about Edwards and I was wrong there too.

I’ve also been on record saying Sengun will ultimately be a top 3 prospect from the 2021 class. That remains to be seen of course.

Nfl draft. I was in the 1% of people that said the Bengals should draft Ja’Marr over the left tackle.

Point is, I don’t bat 0%. Out of the 4 statements I made for this 2022 draft, I expect at least 2 of them to be right, if not 3 or 4. But sometimes I find I tend to underrate the top guys a bit too much. So maybe I’m doing that again with the bigs in this draft.

Interested to see what you think about all of these guys. I know you study the draft a good bit. I watch tournament games, interviews and some highlight tapes. I base my player Evals based on athleticism, can you create either your own shot or at least someone else’s shot, interviews, effort, and bbiq.

Ive been super high on Ivey and his fit on The Pelicans all season. Ivey checks every box I mentioned above. I also think he fits reasonably next to CJ as well. Much better than another 6ft 0 inch guard.

I like Chet’s intangibles and willingness to be coached, more than I like him as a winning NBA player right now. Maybe I understated Banchero a bit, but 110% of Tobias Harris is a damn good player. Jabari Smith is interesting and I think could contribute to winning immediately. I just think we have a logjam at PF/C.

I see the 4 prospects as nearly equal and we have more of a need at guard.

If we didn’t have a need at guard, you wouldn’t need to have Jose Alvarado create 4th quarter playoff game buckets. It was great he was able to do that on a somewhat efficient level, but it also illustrated a clear need to me. One we were hoping to fill with D Graham, but that never materialized and he’s not a good fit next to CJ in a playoff series against a good team.

Maybe Ivey is more Maxey than Ja Morant, but that’s still a damn good player.

Ivey has a bit more of verticality to his game than Maxey, so that’s why I mentioned him in the same vein as Morant. Morant is a better point guard with better vision. Ivey is more of a pure scorer, but he can also pass the rock. I think looking at college assist numbers can be deceiving at times. Ivey is a better passer and floor general than his raw stats suggest.
