I wasn't expecting a multistage photo setup. For some reason I always assumed the team had to line up like it was picture day back in grade school with the players heckling each other off camera.

Good work, thanks.

Holiday on how he's feeling health wise."About 75%." #PelicansMediaDay

This is a little concerning, as I thought he would be closer to 100% by now.

Anyone ask Monty if he plans on getting his suits tailored for this season?

Damn. I thought I heard somewhere that Jrue was feeling 100%. Or was that Gordon?

He was on the Black and Blue report a few weeks ago and said he was experiencing some minor pain. You aren't supposed to be cleared for any activity until you're 100% with a stress fracture, so I'm hoping it's just soreness from being out of basketball shape.

Scott Prather of ESPN 1420 has been great with the live tweeting.

quote:

Scott Prather @Scott_1420 · 1h

Omer Asik says he's all for the #AsikandDestroy nickname. It's been with him since his Chicago days.

Anderson:"I'm just happy everyone is healthy and on this squad..last season we had so many injuries..I think we're gonna win a lot of games"

Ryan Anderson on his health:"There were a lot of moments last year when I wondered if I'd play again...it puts things in perspective."

Anderson on participation:"I've done everything that all the guys have done..We'll see what the staff does with me in camp but I feel good."

Anderson:"My first year here I learned how to create my own show...having Tyreke on the court w/ me is dangerous and gets me open looks."

Anderson's reaction to Evans hamstring injury:"It's a long season. Tyreke is going to work his butt off and get back when he can."

Ryan Anderson:"I feel great...I got here a month ago and have been very active...I feel like I'm in really good shape right now." #Pelicans

Anderson on this season:"In my mind I feel like we've been building for this..I think there's a quiet confidence about us" #PelicansMediaDay

We'll have some one on one video interviews this week on @espn1420 YouTube page with Anderson, Rivers, Russ Smith, Babbitt & Asik. #Pelicans

Pelicans G Eric Gordon on excitement level:"This is the first time in a long time I don't have to worry about rehab & injuries.I feel good."

Gordon on being injury free:"It's been good to train at a high level this Summer...I'm gonna show a lot more explosiveness this season."

Gordon:"I'm gonna show a lot more explosiveness this year. A lot more than y'all are used to." #PelicansMediaDay

Gordon on if he's thought about his player option after this year:"No. Not at all. I'm only thinking about this team & this year."

Gordon:"I've been playing pickup ball with the guys the last 3 weeks...It's all about is gelling and playing together."

Eric Gordon asked if this is the best he's felt in his pro career. He hesitated but eventually said,"This is the best I've felt physically."

media day lies

quote:

1. "I've been working hard. I put on [10/15/20] pounds of muscle." No, no you didn't. You gained x pounds and you want to look like a hard worker, so you're claiming it as muscle.

2. "We're going to run this year." When a coach says this, he really means that he would totally let his team run if he could trust his point guard just a little. But no coach trusts his point guard.

This does not bode well. Seems like Monty still has no clue how to work this.

Well the problem is that Tyreke doesn't want to come off the bench.

You use two quotes by Demps and Evans to bash Monty?

Neither does Gordon. Tyreke fits better with the second team, though. He needs to get over it and stop pouting.

Despite what Tyreke has said repeatedly, I think he will be fine as long as he gets good minutes. Tyreke had 3 bad situations as a reserve last year 1) being injured and new, 2) getting under 25 mpg, 3) Not having Ryno to create space. Playing with Rivers/Jimmer, Miller, Ryno, AD/Ajinca on the 2nd unit will give him as much space as any other lineup can. If he's productive and getting 30ish mpg he should be happy. MM tweeted this yesterday:

quote:

Michael McNamara ?@McNamara247

Reminder: Tyreke’s per 36 #’s when coming off bench with Ryno: 20.4, 7.3, 6.7. The narrative that he is bad off the bench is false.

who is this guy? his tweets were good and informative. as opposed to

Jimmy Smith @JimmySmith504

who had the shittiest, least informative tweets with the most generic quotes.

happy to see everyone talking well about Reke and optimistic about his prognosis. not pleased to hear Jrue is at 75%, but hopefully that's more fatigue, as previously mentioned.

pretty excited for Salmons as a vet lockeroom presence. but i hope AD takes on more of the leadership role. i think he will and already started that last year
