We have no back up PG
isn't jameer a fringe starter? seems he would cost more than we should be spending on that position

People always overpay at the beginning of free agency and we always say the market is high. Towards the end you start getting bargains like Jameer. I think he could get him around a 2-3 million dollar contract.

2-3 million a year for Nelson?

I think he could be a quality veteran back up PG. I'm confused as to why people take issue with this. There is nobody behind Jrue and we need some more veterans on this team.

Jameer is a proven PG in this league. He's 32 which is a lil worrisome, but at the right price I'd be ok with it.

My guess is he ends up signing for about $3 mil per .

I agree with all of this, unless we lose Gordon and Rivers. Assuming that we'd net a starting SF, while losing Gordon and Rivers, I think it would be a good move to get a quality backup pg.

I don't mind him as a player. Buts he's going to cost more than 2-3 mil

shite even a guy Andre miller signed a 3/15 deal at age 35 to be a backup to Ty Lawson in Denver

Ben frickin gordon just got 4.5 per

Mo Williams signed for 2.5 per last year. Collison signed for 2 per. It depends. The teams who wait and don't go out and overpay the minute free agency starts can usually get a guy like Jameer for good value.

I think Orlando paid him $2 million to go away as well. It was partially guaranteed IIRC.

If I'm not mistaken, any money Nelson gets on a new deal offsets money owed to him by Orlando. In essence, he makes the same amount whether the new team gives him the minimum or $3M. The total amount remains the same. So, the smart thing for the player to do is pick the team you want to play for and take the minimum. It allows your new team cap flexibility to improve.

If I'm wrong about the set-off, correct me.

Yep. He was set to make 8 million next year. They saved 6 mil by waiving him.

There are always players that fall through the cracks. Not saying it will be Jameer, but it does happen.

There are some decent vet backup type point guards out there this year.
