Anthony Davis doesnot have the killer instinct that we need, he lacks passion. We aren't going to compete for a championship in the next 3 years so he will want a trade. Trade him before he makes us trade him. Trade Davis to the Lakers for the second pick and a couple future first round picks, then select Ingram at #2 and Buddy Heild at #6. Use the cap space Davis frees up and sign Whiteside to a hefty deal. I love AD don't get wrong, but this franchise isn't moving in the right direction.

I kind of agree about the killer instinct part but good god that is a horrible trade/idea.

Yeah, if you went that route the trade would have to be something like #2 plus Russell and Randle and taking Asik. Basically LA would rely on AD and cap space, the Pels get a great young nucleus, but perhaps only have a 1B not a 1A. This isn't Deron Williams, this is perhaps the #3 player in the league that's a few years away from the start of his prime.

He won't be on the Pelicans roster in those prime years you speak of, unfortunately

AD's biggest problem is playing for an organization with no influential ownership and terrible management and coaching.

This. AD lacking killer instinct is a bunch of horse shite. 2 years ago his clutch time stats were fricking downright unbelievable.

Evans to LAC for Rivers s&t? He can't cost more than 3-4m. Clears cap and gets rid of Evans who can't play in Gentry's system. At least Rivers with Erman may be a serviceable defender (has the tools) and can run up and down the court with pace.

We aren't getting shite for Evans, and I don't want him at all going into next year in Gentry's offense. He is beyond a terrible fit. A borderline disastrous fit.

Got to agree...ADs problem is not a lack of killer instinct. He needs to develop a post game. I know the simpletons think that post play is irrelevant but LeBron became next level when he finally started playing back to the basket. AD is more physically gifted than LeBron in that regard. Keep his arse away from the 3 point line and let him torch bigs on the block like Hakeem. Couple that with his face up game and he would be almost unstoppable.

Gentry wants him to be Shawn Marion, a slasher and perimeter shooter. That's not the best way to use him. Told y'all that before the season began last year.

I'd take this if they gave us their 1st. I'd also take the AD & Asik for Russell, Randle & 2. Then get Okafor for 6 & we'd be in great shape.

Well, I completely disagree with almost everything you said.

No. LeBron in the post is more than physical gifts. His vision/passing on the block are what unlocked Miami pace/space. Davis can rival some of his physical gifts, but he will never have the passing ability of LeBron. And that matters in 2016 if you want to run an offense through the post.

Speaking of hot takes.......According to NBA.com, Davis posted up on 262 possessions (or 19% of his total possessions) this year. That's the same % as Enes Kanter and slightly lower than Boogie (19.5%). Davis scored only .78 PPP in post ups.

He had 186 possessions (13%) classified as "Spot Up." LMA was at 15.5%, Cousins at 16.5%, Vucevic at 13.5%. He scored .95 PPP in Spot Ups this year.

Might want to get that crystal ball checked out, chief.

When did I say anything about running the offense through the post? The first thing I said was that he needs to develop a post game. Right now, it's not very good. And I'm talking about scoring from the post, not being a facilitator. Would you say that Hakeem is less physically gifted in the post than LeBron because LeBron is a better passer? It's like you are just looking for something to argue about

I don't want to do the same thing and call you stupid because I think we do enough of that around here, but we were talking about AD's killer instinct. I defended him and said he doesn't lack a killer instinct, he needs to improve his post game and said he is more physically gifted (obviously as a scorer) in the post than Lebron. You began talking about Lebron as a passer. Who the hell brings up passing in the context of having a killer instinct? Like I said, I think you are just arguing to argue. It's common place around here, but Davis definitely has physical advantages over Lebron in the post.

"Killer instinct" is a proxy argument for "AD can't score at will, how can he possibly be a top 5 player?". Passing out of the post would make AD that much harder to defend. I remember seeing many times last year AD being completely overwhelmed by a double team in the post. If he learns how to pass out of that fewer doubles will come and he'd be a more effective post scorer and get closer to being able to create his own offense instead of needing to be set up all the time.
