Disappointed on the loss but encouraged by their play.

Will sound weird, but I liked the defense last night. Blew a few assignments (side PnR defense is maddening) and gave up too many OREBs, but I thought they did a credible job of forcing tough shots. Portland just hit them. Their offense is an ode to floor spacing and shooting at every spot.

Some dumb plays (fouling 3pt shooters, Rivers giving up on the rebound then a foul and1, Evans had some bad passing choices, FTs) cost them v a very good team

Can certainly question some of Monty's late game choices, but they didn't lose the game. Lillard hit 2 ridiculous shots at the end, Pelicans couldn't keep up, rimming out 2 bunnies.

Need to come out swinging v SAC.

I fully expect Cousins to go 30/20 and that's fine. We just need to contain everyone else.

Yeah. He's been playing very well. That game will be another up and down, high scoring one.

I'm worried that Gay will shoot 9-12 for 28 points. Classic Pelicans move right there

I think the Pelicans finally pull one out from this road trip.

Yeah, AD has to learn you defend a guy by Aldridge by not letting him get to his preferred spots in the first place. Once he gets to his spots, putting a hand in his face isn't going to stop him from making it. Although that could also be AD isn't strong enough to stop Aldridge, in which case make him fight for his spot and do some flopping to get fouls.

This was a close game at Portland, a similarly played game probably goes our way in New Orleans. How they played was encouraging for the most part. My main complaint is they still don't know what to do when a team defends them well. Tyreke forcing it to the basket is the only reliable play to bust a good defense.

Was it what Jerry Jones calls a "moral victory"?

They did play well. That Lillard dude is pretty good.

I definitely feel more "comfortable" with this loss than the 3 before it where we just looked outmanned and outclassed. Although I'm still wondering if Portland is just a paper tiger. They've had good health and a soft schedule.

You guys looked solid. Pretty good early on when you were attacking and hitting quick shots. I was thinking with Smith being out , it might be a blessing in disguise. Late game offense from you guys didn't look promising though. It was really just watch Evans charge the paint and throw the ball up and hope for the best.

As for a blazer fan it was a good win. Our shots weren't falling most of the game but we were able to grind it out. All I hear is that our team would lose those games but we've won quite a few like this. Defense still looks Meg though.

They are good but i would be mildly shocked if they make the WCF this season. As good as their offense is, that defense is soft. OKC, SAS, GS are better.

But they should be a real force over the next few years. Fun team to watch.

Every single one of our possessions with the main lineup should start with a holiday/Davis pnr or a Reke/Davis pnr with Gordon and Anderson spacing the floor. I love Ryno, but when we're healthy there's no reason to be starting possessions with Anderson postups 20 feet from the basket
