I realize that Pek is a free agent while Vucevic still has years on his contract, and Vucevic is younger than Pek. Given that that they share the same nationality, my question is what are the differences between Pekovic and Vucevic? Pek is obviously more realistic, as he is a free agent, but what is the difference in their games? In my opinion Vucevic is the better pure rebounder while Pek has a more refined offensive game. What say pelicans talk?

ETA I think it's relevant because Vuc will be coming into his prime when AD comes into his own.

if it were possible, you have to go with the 22yo 7ft rbd machine who has face-up game. a win now gully sqad like the lakers, heat, spurs & celts would prob take pek tho.

I'm not gonna lie, I accidentally down voted you while trying to upvote you...

I agree completely. Vuc has the greater potential while Pek is ready to contribute to a good team now. That being said I pray the pelicans can grab a center like Pek.

yeah. i really believe len can become this type of player. after all he is from somewhere europe, not far from the nikolas i think!

if we end up with the veteran pek, i would really hope we get a pg like rondo. peks playing window is not wide arse open if you know what i mean. so signing him means winning now.

Pek isn't realistic at all. He's an RFA and isn't leaving Minny

be positive . besides, minny is weird in their doings. we should offer the 14mil and move on.

I don't think were getting Pek either, but in the short
term I think he's more realistic than Vucevic. At least Peks expiring contract gives us a shot at him; Vuc has at least two years left.

ETA I think Pek would easily be worth a Max contract. Centers are hard to come by and Pek could be Top 3 for sure.

Minny has pretty much already said that they will match and get him back. He's too good for them to lose, especially with them trying to convince Kevin Love to stay

I agree. I can't see why minny wouldn't match an offer on one of the best centers in the game. But I wouldnt put it outside of the realm of possibilities, its not like minny has been a model franchise in recent years.

bad thing for pursuing teams is that pek can only make 14mil. if he was in a more veteran contract situation, things would get real ugly this summer.

I would drop 14m on him in a heart beat. Elite centers aren't very common in this day and age.

A healthy Minnesota team can be really good. Rubio, Love, and Pek is a damn good core

Whoa.. what? He is not an elite Center. Gortat put up better numbers the season before last and nobody wanted to even trade Gordon for him. That's just crazy. Elite centers put up numbers like 20+ppg, 10+ppg, 2+bpg. Pek didn't come anywhere close to those numbers and that was with Love out hurt. He's a better than average Center, but anything over 8m is just crazy..

quote:

There have been 20 seasons in NBA history in which a big man averaged at least 16 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.7 offensive rebounds and made at least 74% of his free throw attempts. Moses Malone did it 10 times. David Robinson, Bill Laimbeer, and Bon McAdoo each did it twice. Hakeem Olajuwon, Dave Cowens, and Roy Tarpley all did it once. And last season, Nikola Pekovic did it. It was something that hadn’t been done since 1995-96 when the Admiral did it for the second time.

Anyway, Flip Saunders all but said the TWolves arent letting Pekovic get away. And Vucevic is going to get paid.

If you want a guy like this, you need to draft one and hope they pan out.

That is the most random set of stats I have ever seen put together. So because Howard or Shaq or pretty much any other Center are poor FT shooters their seasons are not as good? Like I said..

2012-13 Pek
62 games, 16.3 ppg, 8.8 rpg, .8 bpg, 52 %fg, 74 %ft
2011-12 Gortat
66 games, 15.4 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 1.5 bpg, 55 %fg, 64 %ft

Gortat makes 7.5m and no one says that he is way underpaid. How is Pek any better?
